I am totally fedu p with this rotten system they have in place for benefits and tax credits.

I was made redundat in april 07 and then found out I was pregnant in the July, when I got made redundant I held off for as long as I could before claiming benefits by temping untill I was 7 months pregnant (luckly my agency/ and the clients liked me ) I then claimed benefits, had my baby and was hoping to find a job and be back at work january of this year when baby was around 9 months, however recession came along and it have been proving VERY tricky for me to find a job with suitable hours, anyhoo over the last few weeks my luck has been in and I have had a few offers for part time work, the wage is not ideal, but anything to just get me back into the working environment and build my confidence. I called up my lone parent advisor explaining about the job and them being under 16 hours per week, and she told me I am actually better off on benefits as I will not get any help with childcare.

It really annoys me that I am happy to go back to work even if only 2 hours a day, and come off as many benefits as I can, as I would obviously still need housing benefit as the wage will not be able to cover rent, but I do not get why they can not help with the childcare?

Baby's dad? - either to support baby or to help with childcare (in a practical or financial sense)

My baby's dad is VERY supportive thank you very much.

However he does not earn a whopping salary to cover all the nursery fees plus the usual for the baby.

Anyway on a positive note, the client has upped the hours to 16 so I can take the job and and get some assistance with the nursery fees. I think Zara33 sprinkled some good luck on me with all that positivity :-)
