e cheque via paypal? ? ?

I am currently adding funds from my paypal account which is going to take 7-9 days, but i wanted to pay a seller on eBay today and I went to pay and then logged into my paypal acocunt and said e-cheque(that was the only option). What does that mean? that I can pay the seller now even though I have no funds in my paypal acocunt but have money in my banka ccount?

It's like writing a regular cheque but takes around twice the length of time for it to clear in the seller's account! Paypal will take the money from your bank account.

I forgot, in payment methods section is there an option for e-cheque? I just thought you acept cheques and that inc. e-cheques, right? The seller accepts cheques and already has a dispute so I need to pay him even if that means im gonna waste my day on eBay, coz I'm getting the feeling that I would get a neg or be in trouble with eBay.

I'm sorry but I don't understand. You need to pay him quickly but he doesn't accept paypal?

  • I think this is a fairly new thing. Now if you do not have money in your Paypal account and choose to take funds from your bank account, instead of instantly taking it from your bank account as they always used to, it is converted into an e-cheque. The money is still coming directly from your bank account but there is a delay while it clears I guess?!

If you are a seller the payment shows up in your paypal account telling you the date it will clear so you should be ok!!!

Sorry. I wasnt thinking right. Basically, I have no funds in my Paypal account and a seller from eBay wants his money for the goods I bought. I have requested for the funds which takes 7-9 days and that is too long as the buyer already opened a pay dispute and eBay said I need to pay him before the 19th may. I got to find another way of paying him and I though an e-cheque would be good, as long as he has something to see thats alright with me even though those e-cheuqes take forever to clear.
  • Can you not scrap the Paypal thing and just send a good old Postal Order?

But i'll need to go to the post office to get the vouchers or whtever (im not really that sure what a postal order is), My PO is quite a trek. Will se though. If I use a credit card on my paypal can I add funds from that immedietly? is so, i can pay the seller now, I just want to know how long does it take to add funds on my account via credit cards.

    Thanks.
  • Ok I'm at a loss, have looked on Paypal but can't find it anywhere.

Theoretically you should be able to checkout to pay for the item, select an alternative funding source, choose your credit card and pay directly. As it is a credit card they shouldn't have to wait for things to clear????

Sorry I'm not 100% sure but if you play around on Paypal they claim you don't need to have a Paypal account to pay for an item and can just use a credit card - oooh there's a thought, is it possible to not log in to paypal and just pay by credit card or would that make life too easy?!!!!

Alternatively Postal Orders are easy if you can get to a Post Office, just ask for the value you require (round up or down to keep life simple as odd amounts are made up in stamps). Then all you have to do is write the name of the seller on them, tear off the stubs to keep and send them off.

Hope some of this helps you out!!!!!!!!!

Ok thanks. There was no need for me to 'add funds', I just paid directly, is there a difference? even though adding funds is quicker they both take money from the bank. Maybe the direct way is less protective, right?

Thanks for the help Gingermonkey, appreciated.

Also, is it possible to cancel Buy It Now items? I bought an item and was wondering if i or the seller could cancel it? I dont mind if i cant, I would still buy it but if it's possible then I'll try.
