Several current phones have wi fi built in which will enable you to connect wirelessly to a home network if you have one or to wi fi hotspots when you’re out and about. You can browse the internet and send/receive emails at no cost providing you’re connected in this way and assuming any hotspot you use is free.
The other way to connect to the internet is through the phone’s gprs/3g capability, this enables you to connect pretty much anywhere dependant on signal but you will need an inclusive data allowance on your contract or it could cost you a fortune.0 -
thanks, so i need wi-fi and it wont cost any extra. My home internet is Tiscali and is unlimited.0

Just to clarify, and sorry if this is stating the obvious, you need a wireless router on your home internet connection to be able to connect the phone through wi-fi. If you don't already have one it's easy enough to set up.0

do you need to send a lot of emails? In my mind blackberry is best for that, especially with wifi but if you want a great toy, iphone is best - various prices monthly0

hiya
thanks, no dont really send lots of emails, is just really a toy:rotfl:
was just looking at the iphone, might get that one.
thanks for your help0 -
Remember WiFi gives you internet at HOME - there are public WiFi hotspots but they are (around here at least) few and far between.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0

You do need to be more specific with your requirements tbh. I've got a HTC phone with built in WiFi, but I also have HSDPA internet (fast mobile internet), so have NEVER used the WiFi even though I'm a big net user.
What is your usage like? Look for what you need for minutes and texts, do you need internet/email out and about? Will you use your phone for internet/email at home or do you use a laptop? How much do you want to spend? Do you want touchscreen?
All new phones have internet capability, most have decent cameras...I think calls/texts determine if you need payg or a contract.0 -
hi, if I was you I would go into phones4u and tell them what you need. i pay an extra £5 a month and i get unlimited internet (it has caused a facebook addiction!). So if your away from home bored or on public transport or something its a great thing to have and like i wrote above phones for you added it on to the tariff i wanted for £5. I have the samsung jet phone and I am impressed with it, it has quick internet. Good luckTOTAL DEBTS

thanks for your replys.
im not really a big user on the actual calls. Infact im currently pay as you go and i top up with £10, and that lasts me 6 weeks or more.(first month is free txt)
i want a good phone but cant really afford to pay out £200+
Probably one with unlimited internet access is better as i want to use it when out and about as id rather go on the laptop when at home
thanks for your advice :j0
