On contract, faulty phone what to do?

I am on contract with orange and the phone i have has faultes with it (as does my 3 friends who have the same phone) so it is obviously common with these phones, LG KP501.

Can i phone orange and ask for another phone thats totally different to this one or will they see it as an upgrade and tell me where to go?

Depends how common the fault is. They will send you the same model phone as a replacement but if its faulty again if you request they could send you a different model but it would probably be a refurbished one.

If the manufacture admits its a fault that all the networks carrying it will either offer a new version or a replacement different model.
If not they'll change it 3 times before offering a DRM (different model replacement) but it has to be swapped 3 time for the same fault.
