Why did you wait and rely on THEM? 1) Make sure you know the t&c regardless of whatever nonsense they come up with. 2) Ensure you comply AND can prove you did so. 3) If they don't pay up send a LBA and then sue. That's the only language all cpw companies understand - and if you don't use it they will play games with you until you give up. They almost invariably cough up (kicking and screaming) in due course when you don't accept the red herrings, smokescreens and false promises they throw at you once they've decided to stuff you. As I keep warning, most of the time they pay without a problem - but sometimes they don't and often ignore their own t&c. Point the gun, !!!! it and they usually pay without you needing to fire.
