Under 18's Car Insurance payment?
AdotC
Basically, i am just wondering if I am able to pay my car insurance monthly even though I am under the age of 18? I have heard that I can, but from other people I have heard that I cant, because its just the same as entering a legal contract (in which you have to be 18 or over to do so).
Just want to clear up the confusion. Thanks.

Some companies will allow you to pay instalments if the credit agreement for the instalments is either in the name of a parent or the direct debit instruction is signed by the parent. Your best bet is to ask the Insurers you are getting quotes from.
P.S Avoid Quinn if you have a provisional licence0 -

Hmmm okay thanks, guess Ill just have to ring the insurance company.
Also, whats wrong with quinn? I know you said dont go with them if I have a provisional so it doesnt really relate to this, but they have given me the cheapest quote out of all the insurance companys i have found.0 -
Do you have a provisional licence by any chance?0

They have a trick of charging a massive extra premium when you pass your test.
Quinn are one of the worst Insurers going, I would describe them as the Ryan Air of Insurance, have a search of the MSE forums for Quinn to find a number of threads or google something along the lines of Quinn + Problems or Complaints or Reviews0 -
Hands up all those who would insure a 17 year old to drive a motor vehicle.0

The legal reply would have to be no.
A minor cannot legally enter into a contract until they attain the age of 18.0 -
There are exceptions0

Only for necessary goods - who knows whether motor insurance comes into this category - I don't know of any case law either way.0
