I think the NUS extra is good value at £10. There is quite a few stores that gives you discount if you've got one.

I bought a NUS extra card on my first year before talking to any other students about it. It turns out that almost any shop will give you the nus discount providing you flash them almost any card with a picture on it.

The only benefits that it does give you over a standard NUS card is amazon discount and other online ordering discounts. Depends if your going to spend enough with those retailers.

Your call guys, but if you ask me (3rd year in uni) then I wouldnt bother and just use your student ID card.

Login to the NUS Extra website and look under Amazon, there should be a code. Copy and paste it in next time you buy something and you should get 5% off your future purchases. Think this only applies if you're buying from Amazon, not single sellers on Amazon.

I lvoe my NUS card, it's paid for itself a million times :T

You can also get 5% from play.com using your NUS card.
This includes computer games whilst the amaxon discount does not include them.

I had no problem in most stores or online when using my standard student campus card and those who demanded the overpriced profit making nus extra card would be bypassed and would lose my custom and I would just use an alternative source.

I just tried to buy some Sennheiser CX headphones and Play.com won't accept my NUS discount, apparently headphones aren't included in the discount? Yet on the NUS website it says that 'gadgets' are included - what exactly defines a gadget? *fume* [URL="javascript:void(0);"][/URL]

I would guess gadgets are defined as any product in the gadgets section rather than the electronics section where headphones are found.
