Feel free, I'm using a free promotional diary that companies give away so no money spent there. I'm planning to keep it in my handbag if I'm out or in the kitchen. If you run out of something put it in the diary to buy that week, that stops you buying things just because you think you might have run out.

Each day plan what you're having in a weeks time and add anything you will need to the weeks shopping list. So no more getting in from work and staring blankly at the cupboards wondering what you can quickly rustle up, and no more expensive impulse purchases.

You lot have really inspired me. My resolutions are:

    1) To stick to my very small budget when out shopping.
    2) Lose a bit of weight so that my jeans actually feel loose.
    3) Eat more healthily - ie try and avoid eating biscuits that are lying around in the staff room.
    4) Try not to buy chocolate when I fill up with petrol.
    5) Read a bit more widely, as I always seem to end up with the same sort of book.

    and last but not least:

    6) Spend my time wisely on MSE, try out recipes AND give something back to the MSE community!

Gosh, I've got my work cut out, haven't I?! ;D

Ok Folks, I need an opinion please:

Last night I went to work with a birthing woman, home birth, up and down the stairs with her for a million times and supporting her body in labour for the best part of 5 hours (luckily, fairly quick birth! I have done this for 30 hours before.... :o).

Baby was born in the middle of the night, lovely little girl, everyone delighted, husband went round with a celebration cake which he had made and was obviously very proud of - I did not have the heart to refuse, even if it was very clearly NOT vegan. Frankly, I needed some food energy so badly, I would have probably eaten a piece of raw liver at that point!

Have I broken my New Year resolution, or do the circumstances justify the slip?

    Thank you!

I think you can be let off this once!

You obviously needed something, I wouldn't worry about it.

You should be more proud of what you had achieved that night.
