My 18 month (minimum) contract with 3 ends on 25th October
After an exhausting 45 minute call with them this morning , I finally got my PAC. ...although it's only valid to the 23rd October
If I use this code , presumably 3 will charge me for ending the contract "early"...is that correct ?
Should I wait another 2 days and get a PAC which will be valid to the contract end date ?
(although I can't bear the thought of having to ring them again !)

Pac's only last 30 days under any circumstance. I'm not sure they can generate a new one until the old one expires, I've never seen the question asked before?0

You will be charged up to 25th October whether you use the PAC tomorrow or in 30 days time.
PAC transfers are not immediate, so you will need to time it right to minimise your losses (by which I mean paying for both a 3 contract and a new contract). I think most networks take 2/3 days to transfer your number over once you give them the PAC, but it can take longer. Personally, I would take out a new contract about a week before the PAC expires and take it from there.
I would forget about the extra 2 days if it means having to ring 3 again....

Cheers....I kind of though that , when I actually unscrambled my head ....the thought of ringing 3 again isn't a good one !0

I may be wrong, but I think you're going to have to phone them again to give your 30 days notice to end the contract, i.e. on the 25th of September. This way you can use your PAC at any time and your contract will definitely end on the final day, and you'll simply get a final bill on your usual billing day after the 25th of October. The final bill should be very small as you'll already have paid for the final month of your contract, in advance, in September. I would phone to give your notice since obtaining your PAC might not end the contract.
Hope this makes sense, and helps!0 -
Hmmm..guess so...have read lots of stories about 3 chasing payment of bills years later...better safe than sorry i suppose...just can't bear another long , drawn-out phone call while they try to convince me i'm doing the wrong thing....0

Your PAC code will not end your contract early, it usually takes between 2-3 working days for your number to be transferred to the new network, this will not affect your current contract with 3 aslong as you have given notice for it to end in october. Even in some mad strange way they decided to charge you an early termination, you wouldnt actually be paying any more - an early termination is just the amount of line rental between now and the end of your contract, which is still 1 month and one day either way. You would be paying line rental to this date anyhow, so them chraging you eary term would be exactly the same amount (if that makes sense? sorry hard to put in writing) Hope that helps

Went through total torture trying to leave 3 this time last year. Just one bit of advice though - cancel your DD immediately. They still took my payment a month after I had left them and that took ages to sort out. The final indignation came several months later when I recieved another statement showing that I was 50p in credit; they refused to give me my money back as it was less than a pound, I nearly smashed the phone when the guy in call centre said in his best humerous Indian manner "well at least you don't owe us anything sir!":mad:0
