MFD, are you supposed to be doing your tender? How's it going? :)

Getting closer!!! We have made a mammoth effort this weekend. Supposed to be working now though but Mel made me order a curry!!
not allowed to take lesson round here untl you've past your theory ... it last for 2 years but im taking lessons after xmas (if pass my theory of course) x

If you book an instructor from Dronfield or Chesterfield they will teach you. My dad was an instructor for years and used to do loads of lessons in Sheffield (from Chesterfield).
I have never heard of not giving lessons til you have passed your theory - the Driving Instructors help you with your theory  well my dad did! He used to do a full lesson at his house in front of the computer.

Mine was an independent - taught my ex and his brother, complete nutcase, spend most of her time telling me the gossip from ex's parents group of friends.. Anyway..

Look out for special offers at this time of year. There might be blocks of lesson packages aimed as Christmas gifts :D

SM....i would wait until you at least have lessons booked and as near to your practical as you can. I've taken two theory tests now and my last one has just expired as i never got round to having lessons (well couldn't afford them really!) I'm going to start lessons after xmas but will book my next theory test when i've had a few lessons i think. Have you got the LDC practice theory test for your pc? It helped me pass mine i don't think i'd of passed without it! x

LOL - you posted whilst I was typing!

I went with BSM but they are pricey compared to independents. Personally I would call a few independents and ask if they have any deals on...and if they say no ask if they will do a 'taster' session for cheaper than the normal rate. I would check a few before you decide who to go with - if you get an instructor that you don't click with it can really slow the process down (making it MUCH more expensive).

And ALWAYS ask what their pass-rate is (for theory and practical). A good instructor will rarely put a pupil forward for a test who isn't ready for it.

You didn't get your dad to teach you?

When you say pass rate, do you mean those who pass first time or just eventually? Took me four attempts.. :o Though in fairness, I was ready, it was just nerves! And the same examiner for the first three tests.. Gave up before I started on the third one and almost kissed the new examiner at the beginning on the fourth.. :rotfl:

Take care keely. Hope the switch over goes well and you're back soon! xx
