  • Evening all... just popping in quickly before going off to finish off sorting off food for tomorrow. Evenings are still a bit of a rush, but we are getting there :)

Am going to do some meals over the weekend and freeze them, so we don't have to do as much in the evenings. Now Mr T is here with all my shopping and I have things to cook :)

How is everyone else? Had a manic day today sorting out Christmas stuff at work (I work in payroll - christmas requires lots of preparation!). So now I have gin :)

A few topics for discussion (I will come back in half an hour or so to join in ;) )

1 - can you freeze custard and fruit mixed together? I know you can't freeze it on it's own (well.. I assume so, seeing as it goes solid when it cools anyway!), but would it work when mixed with fruit?

2 - Izzy is scared of the hoover (like many babies I assume!). Any advice on helping her get over it, or should I not worry about it at the moment? I try and either do it when she isn't here, or when there is someone else to cuddle her (or hoover while I cuddle her), but she just seems to be getting more scared, rather than less. We were working on the principle that if she is around when we do it she might get used to it, but now she is just scared when we bring it into the room - I don't even need to turn it on! Help!

I thought Alice had stopped being scared of the vacuum cleaner until we moved house and went back to clean the old house. Then we discovered that she is okay as long as she can join in with her toy one but if she doesn't have that she is scared.

Ladyb - I think you can freeze custard (isn't that basically what ice cream is?) I know I've bought frozen steamed puds that have custard on them :)

I'd maybe start leaving the hoover out so Izzy gets used to it being out??
I think I mostly hoover while Chris napped when he had that phase tho...
Might be worth checking her ears for signs of infection as the noise of hoover would prob be painful if she had sore ears - just in case

  • Hi ladybird!! Hope being an adult is going well for you!!

Benjamin is scared of the hoover too - he stiffens when I bring it into the room and won't take his eyes off it. I am keeping on with the 'he will get used to it' approach for now but I would be interested to hear what others think.

I spent the day being an adult today and thoroughly enjoyed it. I just wish I could stop Benjamin ignoring me when I get home. He refused to look at me for about half an hour today which is a VERY long time for a 6 1/2 month old to hold a grudge  Just like his bl00dy mother!!

no idea about the custard and fruit ladybird. but about the hoover stuff - my nephew was petrified of the hoover. all my sis had to do was even say the word and he would be in hysterics. as she was a single mother, she had no other option but to use it and let him have a cry...be that the right or wrong way, he found that it wasnt that bad, and she was actually able to go near him with it enough that she could "hoover" his hand, or foot etc, IYSWIM?
other than that i have no experience, as Katie loves it. and if Christopher is crying and i hoover it puts him over to sleeep!!!?? lol
    Carla-Farla!! :)

well you'll be glad to hear that I had no such problems :)
My moods were much less swingy, period pains disappeared, monthly bleeding was teeny. Checking it wasn't a prob for me, I just did it in the shower, the first time is weird because you don't know what it will be like but it obvious once you've found the threads.
If it doesn't work out for you having it removed is no biggy, just a little uncomfortable followed by period pain for a day or 2. :)
