  • Rene - the way we're getting round this, is putting an announcement in the local paper a few days before worded something like "All family and friends welcome at the church." Both our families have a good representation locally though so the message is bound to filter back. That way there is no confusion, the evening invites clearly say "evening invitation", no one will get offended, no one feels expected to come to the ceremony and kill 6 hours before the evening do, everyone wins.
  • i have just sent out save the dates and we get married march 5th 2010 :)

i sent to day and evening guests, just did different ones for each, so evening ones said to celebrate at our evening reception :)

and im thinking invites will go december/january time :)
    Married on 5th March 2010
still lurking on the wedding board tho :rotfl:
  • I sent Save the date cards out July/August -time for an April 2010 wedding. I also sent them to people on the evening do and just wrote (evening only) on them. Our wedding is around Easter so I didn't want anyone to go book a holiday. I'll be send invites out around or after Christmas.
  • We are getting married xmas 2010 so are putting our save the date cards in with the xmas cards this year.....xmas is a busy time for people so we want to give loads of advance notice....we are only having an evening reception after a 4pm wedding.

I'm getting married on 31st October this year, oooh this month now, thats an exciting thought! But only got engaged 14th July. I wanted to give our guests 3 months notice so it was a race to inaise the guest list, source the materials, and make them all including handwriting the inserts by the end of July.

Easier for us though because we're not having extras in the evening. If they are important enough to us we want them all day, if they're not important enough to be there for the whole day they will have to respect our wish for a small wedding. Granted this is made slightly simpler by the fact that we've moved to the Isle of Man.
  • Mine is even more complicated! Our wedding venue has strict fire limits so only 60 guests are allowed for the ceremony. All 60 will be attending the breakfast and the evening but there are an extra 1/2 dozen or so that we'll probably invite to the breakfast and evening and then then rest just to the evening. Bit strange I know, but there's nothing we can really do unless we just tell all the extras to come to the evening only. We're going to include a personal letter to the breakfast extras explaining it...
