When should I start TTC to make sure I get my OMP?

We are ready to start trying for a baby, or will be when we move (hopefully in the next couple of months) and want to make sure I don't miss out on my employers Occupational Maternity Pay by starting too soon! I am entitled if I have:
"1 year or more’s service at the 11th week before the EWC"
I reckon that at 29 weeks I need to have been there for a year, so going back 29 weeks from 1st July 2010 ( I started 1st July 2009) gives 10th December I reckon.
So... if I start trying after the first period after 10th December am I definitely going to be entitled do you think? And is my maths right?

Hi, yep I worked it out and got Dec 10th too:D
Have you started to prepare you're body for ttc? Its recommended to start taking folic acid as soon as you can, also it won't hurt to get your OH in the practice of taking Zinc supplements too:)
Oh and if you're on the pill, it might be worth thinking of coming off it now to get it out of your system in time for commencing ttc and using another form of contraception in the meantime.

If you have any more questions or just want some info come over to the TTC thread, we're a lovely bunch and there are others there who know a damn sight more than I do:D

Glad the maths works out! Is there any chance that the official date still will come out wrong and therefore a reason to wait longer? I don't want to, but am having trouble working out how it is all calculated, I had to look up the 40 weeks!

I have been taking folic acid for a few weeks, just finished my pills, and desperate to get started now! I will suggest the zinc to OH though!

Tbh it confuses the heck out of me too:o I would've thought that you'd be fine using the 10th Dec date, or just to cover yourself you could wait til the end of Dec/Jan to ttc
Also remember that just because you start ttc in Dec you may not get pg straight away.
Looking forward to seeing you on the ttc thread:D, there's a few there trying for their 2nd so they might know more about OMP and dates etc......it's a very confusing world is ttc:rolleyes:
