Does any company buy your home to sell on as a shared ownership?

I've been thinking about this for a while and I am wondering if anyone had come across this because I'm pretty sure that at one point YOUR MOVE did something like this.

Basically our house has been on the market for over a year with hardly any viewings nevermind offers, even our new agent can't understand why we can't get people through the door.

We own our house with the freehold but on our estate there are some shared ownership and housing association.

An agent once told me that the only properties selling at the moment is the shared ownership cause obviously people can get mortgages.

SO.... My question is apart from selling to a housing association is there any companies out there or any schemes that you know of that you can sell your property to and then they can sell it on as a shared ownership.

I personally think this would be a fab idea but as usual I have probably failed to see why this wouldn't work!!!

Thanks for your feedback

I think you have answered you own question. Ask the Housing association who own in your road. They may buy it from you to resell using their shared ownership policy.

    Worth a try

sorry just read your post again and you dont want to go via the housing association why?
The only companies that will buy from you are known for offering very low amounts
  • Houses are selling if priced correctly.

I'd rather take a reduction than have the hassle of selling part of it.
    Been away for a while.
  • Thanks for your feedback.

I wasn't sure if it is was just housing associations who run these type of schemes, I think I will contact them anyway but I'm pretty sure that they would only offer a fairly reduced price for the house.

I believe our house is fairly priced now, we have dropped 8k from the original asking price and we are getting less viewings now compared to when it was at it's most expensive!!

Out of interest I put mine and my husbands earnings onto a couple of lenders websites to see how much we could borrow and bearing in mind we earn very reasonable salarys each, the most we could borrow with both our salary's was 82k!! No wonder there are no first time buyers!

    Thanks again

Although you can't post a link, can you let us have rightmove webpage, so we could have a look and give you some constructive opinion and advice.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
  • Yeah sure can you tell me how to do that?

    Good question.

If you go to your house's Rightmove page, in a box at the very top of the page is a long alpha numeric code starting http: //. If you can type that in to your next post then we can copy and paste into browser.

I think that's the way to do it, if I'm wrong or someone knows easier way, pl post.

The reason shared ownership are selling is because you need little or no deposit. Maybe if you drop the price people could afford the deposit.

As a FTB I am staying well clear of dodgy shared ownership, so normal properties are more appealing to me. There is a market for normal properties they just should be priced affordably with todays lending conditions. Many sellers are just pricing them selves out of the market.

Which ever way you go you alienate one group of buyers. Many of the cash buyers are however gone so you have to price it well.

    Have you the rightmove link?

Give the location, price and a clue (like the one with a purple kitchen) - someone will soon pick it up and post the link.
