I am trying to install a HP deskjet D1560 printer and it says it won't install because I need to change my colour setting to 16 bit. The problem is I've been into the control panel/ apperance, themes settings and the only option it will let me choose is its current setting of 8 bit.
What do I need to do to fix this problem?
I've only got an old CRT monitor, do I need a new one or is there a cheaper but it would still need to be simple way of fixing this. Is it it nothing to do with it whatsoever. Just haven't got a clue!!!
Many many thanks in advance for all your help.

The problem is likely to be with your graphics card/adapter drivers not the monitor - check what graphics card is installed and download & install the latest available drivers for it.0

Thanks for the reply Baldour.
How do I find out what graphics card is installed?
I presume once I know that I go to the manufacturers website to download the latest software?
Many Thanks0 -
Do you know the make and model number of your computer? May be able to search and see what card it came with.0

3 places will give clues (assuming windows XP, other versions might be slightly different):
1) open the run command and type 'dxdiag' and look under the display tag (might not work if your PC is quite old old)
2) right click on your desktop, select 'properties' to bring up 'Display Properties'
Look under the 'settings' tab and look what it says under 'Display:' in the long white box
3) go to Control manager > System > Device manager - what does it say under "display adapters"
EDIt: Final thought - also worth checking you've run windows update recently, if not and you're horribly out of date that might fix it and will help stop you getting nasty viruses too
