Wed 23rd Sept - What small DFW things have you done today?!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :D

Ooooh today's the day....of to Uni I go at 10. Luckily the classes are held at a local college, not the big Uni campus and I did both m NVQs at this college and know the tutor o so not too daunting and I won't get lost:rotfl: Still got major butterflies, but ho hum.....:o

Not much else going on, a bit dull and damp down here but still mild - no long sleeves so far yet (Sorry Fay;))

Ok, list for today:
  • check banking
  • daily scratchies
  • washing done last night, will go on line if I think it's going to stay dry:rolleyes:
  • packed lunches all round - just got a couple of pounds for coffees today
  • dinner from plan - gammon, egg and HM chips I think
  • no heating yet
  • minimal lighting on;)
That's enough for me - all I can think about is college today..ooooh!
Will update later:p
(Bet you'll all be glad when my 1st day is out of the way....I might keep quiet about it then:rotfl::rotfl:)

Have a fab day:beer:
I really need to sort out a new signature!

    Good luck today Milly :j:j:j

    Hi everyone :hello:
Didn't get round to posting yesterday as I had an early start and had to go to London (late finish too!)

    Today I have / will:

    Check online banking

Try to get to post office after work to pay in tenant's rent money - I wish they could master standing orders or whatever, but at least they paid it more or less on time  However, this involves leaving early - technically this should be ok (flexitime) but it doesn't always work out like that...

See to animals and dwindling number of plants

    Packed lunch to work

HM supper from stores and leftovers (leftover HM pie, jacket potatoes and salad, so not as grim as it sounds

Do a bit of tidying after work

Well, that is me for the day, better dash, look at the time

    Good morning all!

Good luck Milly on your first day - am sure you'll be fine!

Have to take Piglet to Speech Therapist this morning (I swear she thinks he's really behind with speaking as he refuses to speak in front of her but has improved vastly at home!). Then Mum is coming over for the rest of the day, so I'm looking forward to that.

So will ty and get a few things done today:

    * Not checking on-line banking...I know that 18p is still there though!!!:rotfl:EDIT: Just checked bank (in case some mysterious benefactor put thousands in there for me!!) and found the balance is 19p...they've added 1p interest today! I'm rich, I'm rich!!:rotfl::D
    * Heating off
    * Laundry hokey cokey done at 30'c - airer drying as wet today
    * Do any surveys that come through
    * Storecupboard lunch and tea
    * Drive economically
    * Turn plugs off that aren't in use

May get to do a few more, but unlikely. Have good days all!!

    Miss P
    xx

    Morning everybody!

Good luck today Milly - I'm sure you'll sparkle all the way through it!

Fay - don't despair, it's not short sleeve weather here either (although not quite waterpoof and thermals weather!)

Had a really crap night last night - went round to the flat and someone has broken into the cellar and stolen OH's bike and a scuba diving torch. They've rummaged through all the rest of the stuff in there as well. I've phoned the police to report it but they haven't phoned me back yet. Not sure if it will be covered by my insurance because it was in the cellar. It's horrible, I can't believe people can do this, I don't even want to go back down there now.

So, apart from all that my list for today is:
    • Phone the police again and get a crime number
    • Phone home insurance to see if I am covered
    • Breakfast and lunch from stores
    • Prawn curry for tea made from freezer/cupboard ingredients
    • No heating on
    • NSD
    • Washing on when I get home - hopefully it will be a nice enough day tomorrow to hang it out.
Hope everyone has a good day xx

    Morning everyone! :hello:

Well this is attempt two at writing this as the forum had a "funny" moment after I pressed submit reply! :rotfl:

Good luck with your first day Millie! Sorry to hear about your break-in Katy83, what an awful thing to happen!

Its still pretty cold here, but I warmed myself up with a brisk walk to work!

    Things I have done/to do today: -
    • Walk to work taking a detour to burn more calories
    • Bring packed lunch
    • Check online banking
    • Ring company to make appointment to view wedding cars (YAY!)
    • Ring "Millie" to make appointment to taste wedding cakes (DOUBLE YAY!!!:dance:)
    • No heating on
    • NSD
    • Do online food shop for stuff on meal planner we made last night
    • ADDED - Shout at Abbey. Just had an email from our landlord to say our rent is still going into her old account (she amended details six months ago - and we went straight into Abbey and changed them that day, obviously they ignored our instructions!). We're lucky she kept the old account open or we could have defaulted on our rent because of them!!!:mad::mad:
That's about it for now! See you late folks! x
Mortgage when started (Dec 2013): £157,272.50

    - have a rest(its free)
    - dinner from stores
    - maybe I will get round to ebaying some stuff later (kick up bum please)

Morning all - goodluck with college Millie - Katy - ergh - hope it gets sorted and Miss P - will send down securicor for the major interest haul at your place....

Picked up someone from airport (must must must do mileage claim this month)
[STRIKE]Check bank and see if contract money in[/STRIKE] paid into cc and evil edna
[STRIKE]Move some money around if in[/STRIKE]
Sausages for tea two packs, being decadent (10p and 56p) reduced - lol
    [STRIKE]Lunch from home[/STRIKE]
Pick up chap later from lidls and take him back on the plane!
Organise self for data entry today
Organise self for evening class tomorrow and studnet coming
    Charge phone at work
    Phone OH from work
Not sure what else at the mo
Dug up some of my potatoes and they were pathetic........so need to investigate why and if I need to buy tatties locally (will see about a big bag)
Look at coal prices and see if I need to shop around a bit (150-200 a tonne!!!)
Think about cutting more wood at weekend

Check electricity reading - put it in last night and they said I'd over paid by 100 so far and reduced the dd to £85 - not sure I want a reduction now if its going to mean paying more in winter later on
ALSO - they offered a forward payment thing - for a bigger discount - NOT really understanding it (5% reduction if pay in advance but their internet tariff is 4% below the normal rate anyway - so is it worth it???) and haven't found anything on this site about it (Scottish Power) so need to read up
Rummaged in the freezer and fridges last night, we have lots of food to think about eating up - need to do a 'store cupboard' challenge type thing

    Excuse the brain dump

Ps Treat self to rummage around charity shops at lunchtime :)

    Waves to all

Force 900 winds here and squally wet soaking showers - feet wet, boots wet, trousers rolled up revealing stripey socks at work - wet weather gear dripping in the ladies loo. - PAH -

:jwrote and claimed my PPI from Capital one, its in an envelope with a stamp on it :j

MC check later if I posted it!!
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
    :money:Sleeves up folks.:money:
