Evening all, I really need some help!!!!!
Friday just gone @ 7.30pm my house flooded big time with raw sewage, the estimation was that in excess of 300 gallons of raw sewage flooded my house in the space of 45 minutes. Its impact has been devastating, almost everything has been ruined.
The water company was informed 2 hours before the flood occurred and nothing was done til 11pm that night. Ive had the water company out to assess the damage, and they have told me to inform my insurance company.... at the time I didn't have insurance which according to them wasn't a problem as they would so out my claim direct...... until today when I was told that I would be compensated for nothing as the blockage that caused my house to flood was caused by a 3rd party and the water boards insurance doesn't pay for such claims?
Just to add to this, when the inspector came out to visit HE told me to take pictures of everything affected and bin it all which I DID, now Im being told that I cant claim s*it... excuse the pun!
Im lost and havent a dam clue what to do.... anyone offer some advise please....?

Hi, can't give you any direct advice but it sounds like the water board know of the 3rd party, contact your solicitor who will send them a letter asking for the details and where in the opinion of the water board the blame should fall, there could well have been a sub contractor working on the sewerage line on behalf of the water board. I know its to late and a hard lesson, but house/contents insurance really is a must these days, even if only from the view that your insurance company would take to do with all the chasing for details/blame etc.Norn Iron Club member No 3530
