Help me price up Virgin Media!

Hi,
I am a long standing Virgin Media triple customer, I know I am getting a bad deal but their website makes it so flamin' complicated. Basically I don't use the TV bit anymore so I want to drop that, I just want basic phone line and 10mb broadband. Current bill looks like this:

Telephone Line Rental £11.00
Phone, TV & B B Bundle Saving £-9.50
Call Displ £2.00
T V Size: L £11.50
Broadband Size: L £25.00

It appears to me in the bundles that there is one for Broadband L and phone line for £14+£11=£25 (after initial discounts) That would be fine for me. Is that the case? How do I get this? I clicked on already with us - change your package and went through the options but it only showed the services at the prices I already pay, I guess it can't handle 'bundles' ?

I just want to get my facts straight before running the gauntlet of customer services!

Thanks.

  • I'm confused too (sorry Im no help OP). I'm looking at changing from my limited TalkTalk package (TalkTalk Internation phone and 'free' broadband - which is slow and has a 40gb download limit that my kids exceded last month, presumably watching Youtube). I'm looking at moving to Virgin Media as they have fibre optic cable which is quicker than current (we are a long way from the exchange) and including the TV in the package. But which one???

You are correct in that it will be £25 all in. You will need to dial 150 and ask to change, I suspect they will insist you take a new 12 month contract.

Always best to choose the option on the phone that says you want to leave Virgin, when they ask say you have a BT line already (even if you don't) and you are going for TalkTalk (£17.74 per month for broadband and line rental) or something similar. You may get an even better deal than you think.

    Hi thanks for the clarity!

Do you know if I have to take a new contract as you mention will that mean losing my existing phone number and email addresses? thats the main fear why I want to change but not cancel and start afresh.

No, just means you are agreeing not to leave them in the next 12 months

No, you won't see any discernible change in email addresses etc, it's just that the new contract runs for 12 months, which means that if you suddenly decided to change supplier within that time then you'd have to pay a get-out charge.

Edit: Beaten to the reply! ;)
p.s. You could always opt for the Medium TV option which comes free with the phone line rental. Then you've still got cable tv for those times that Freeview goes wrong.
