retune on 30 September 2009

Why is this retune different from the automatic retunes that happen every so often. Why the annoying messages that come up each time the TV is turned on to one of the 'five' channels.

I would be grateful if someone could advise why we have this and the 'adverts' that are appearing regularly. Why are our TVs being taken over.

Thanks.

  • "To allow the introduction of Freeview HD, and to ensure that FIVE can be watched from the public service digital TV transmitters, ALL Freeview equipment must be retuned on WEDNESDAY 30 SEPTEMBER 2009 AT LUNCHTIME."

  • As someone who lives in a fairly patchy reception area, I can currently not get the full range of channels on freeview. I'm just a bit concerned that this re-tune will give me Channel 5 (which I never watch!) and take away channels that I do watch.

If you ring them up they can retain the old signal to your house;)

These automatic ones are for 1 or 2 channels being added or removed. This doesn't affect the other channels, so do it whenever you like.
This particular one is reshuffling some of the channels, so on the morning of the retune, some of the channels won't work. This is why it's so important to do this retune, you won't have some channels until you do it.
