I've dropped mine occasionally under the influence ;)
I've never paid for phone insurance - I figure over the 12 years or so I've had a phone I've saved thousands of pounds. If I do break a new phone I'll still be better off.

I've never broken a phone thus far *touches wood*.

My current one is two years old (I've had it since the start of the year, it was previously used as a demo phone at work), and still going strong. I've somehow even avoided losing the lens cap!

My brother on the other hand....has lost a phone by walking into the sea with it, run it over accidentally when it fell out whilst he was riding his moped, got given the shockproof, sandproof, partly-waterproof Motorola F3...and lost it! A warning to all you insurers out there: don't give him mobile phone insurance!

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

My last 2 phones (one Sagem, one Sony Ericsson) lasted 3 months and 6 months respectively!
I had a Motorola V3i D&G which I adored but it only lasted about 4 months - there was a manufacturing fault with it. I took it in to Phones 4 U and they had the cheek to say to me 'if its a manufacturing fault you dont have to pay but you will probably have to pay for it.' said with a smirk. Same salesman had smirk wiped off his face when I went into the same branch with OH so he could top-up and I presented said smug salesman with document that came back with phone - 'manufacturing fault, no charge.'
I thought I must just be cursed when it came ot phones but current phone (Samsung G600) is 13 months old and despite being dropped repeatedly etc still works fine. Its getting replaced in December by a BlackBerry but thats personal choice rather than necessity!
