Why transferring an ISA has been a waste of time

Chasing the lost interest is a non starter with A & L 'cause of the 0870 number catch.
Why?
Go through their official complaints procedure.
Write them a letter.
Yes it will cost you a 2nd class stamp, but if you take them to the ombudsman it will cost them £350 (plus their admin costs for dealing with it).
They have a lot more to lose than you do.
It will cost you a few 2nd class stamps which is not much.
If the interest is really small then it might not be worth bothering.0 -
It took a year to transfer my daughters isas from northern rock to the abbey - I felt like screaming and shouting as i got nowhere - they are supposed to make sure no interest is lost - I wriote and complained that I had lost the difference in interest and they paid something like £20 into each account - it was a nightmare dealing with abbey complaints - also with their postal isa - they got the account number when when sending money to my daughters bank and then we had to wait weeks while they sorted it out - something to be said for NOT having a postal ISA0

The A&L compaints address is freepost, so not even the cost of the stamp.
Be clear, precise and ask not only the interest back, but a compensation for your time waste and threaten to go to the ombudsman if they do not act immediately. It is unheard of that a bank makes a sum disappear for a month!0 -
The moral lesson of the story is that no two person are alike. Some people are fortunate to have satisfactory dealings with a bank, lender, or financial institutions and others don't. My experienced with A & L overall is satisfactory.I am also fully aware of very poor customer services but I haven't spoken one yet. I am trying to do all my communication thru their secure message and so far has been no problems.0
