  • I had an assesment last year with marks and spencer and its started out as a group project we had to put ideas forward and plan a staff christmas party, Then we got take off seperatly and had to do the role play thing mine was helping choose items for a tv presenter that matched (she was very difficult) and for 3 diffrent senarios wedding, working and casual socialising. I got to the part where I had to take her to pay and I said whilst we are going to the till could I interest you in our store card if you take it out today I can offer you a 30% discount.... the woman was hysterical laughing and I ended up getting a job offer... I didnt take the job though because for some reason the hours I applied for 9:30 till 2:30 completly changed to 2pm-7pm which for me was impossible.

thanks for that hellypelly - very useful as I am now going for an assessment tomorrow for working in womenswear!

After booking an interview for my original application they phoned to say the core hours jobs had gone and they only had early shift left. I would not have been able to get to that store so early so had to pull out.

I have been checking for other jobs everyday though so found a more suitable one today and managed to get an assessment. I would really like this one, so fingers toes and everything crossed and hope the dreaded nerves don't strike!

anyone else had an interview for womenswear at all?
  • I applied this week online for an xmas job on Tuesday, booked an interview for Wednesday and am starting on Monday next week. I'm still in shock at the rapidity and efficiency of the process compared to someone like the DWP for instance whom take roughly 5 or 6 months from application closing date to starting working for them.

The assessment was one to one and I had some info about a seat and a customer given to me and given 5 mins to prepare. Customer came in, asked a question, I helped the customer and that was it. 5 mins later I was told I had the job and asked what hours I wanted to work.

I had exactly the same. I don't start until 26November unfortunately (so it's only for 5weeks ) and it's 9pm - 1am so horrid hours but at least it's something.
