No Such Thing As Consumer Rights

I have had big problems with CURRYS, in relation to a laptop.
They repaired it under the coverplan and firstly gave it to someone else, then when i did get it back did a poor quality repair.
I rang and they took it back, said it was fine and gave it me back. Its not fine, the screen is wonky and the speakers no longer work.
I am now out of warranty and they will do nothing.
I wrote to head office and they sent me back a random letter telling me to reboot the system??

On top of this i had a phone years ago with them and have just found out i was still paying the insurance on it, even though i have not owned it for two years (2 years x £8.99 month). This was repaired also and so i thought the insurance just stopped.

They wont give me any time or help and i think they are trained to not answer any questions you ask them.

I am totally ripped off by CURRYS and have no way of complaining without going to small claims court.

Can anyone help in my quest to bring the superpower of CURRYS to justice?

    Recently took Currys to small claims court they settled out of court before it finally went to court and settled in full with court costs

    It can be done and its very easy to do didnt even have to submit evidence supporting my claim to teh court, papers issued to dsgi group, after 2 weeks since papers were served by the court I got a cheque in post from dsgi and paid in full and ended court case

    I give dsgi group ample time under SOGA but the refused they didnt even acknowledged it

    Concerned about costs for small claims court and for the mobile i am sure they will say it was legal to take the money as it was my fault.
    Its just not ethical to do so.

    Then maybe you should of read the terms and conditions of what you were signing up to...?

    It cost me £25 paid by visa and got a nice fat cheque from DSGI including costs I didnt apply for postage/phone costs just the goods which were damage due to a manufactured defect which was proven and the court costs

    I was in touch with consumer direct and later by local trading standards
  • My dealings with Currys have shown diabolical customer service. They are not prepared to put anything right when they've made a mistake. Avoid DSG at all costs!

    I was wrong to assume this but my point is just because it is legal for them to do so, does not mean it is right to do so.
    The whole area of insurance from CURRYS is confussing to me and i personally would expect a firm like them to act honourably

    It sadly is how many companies, not just Currys, make money.

    You should have noticed that you were having £8.99 a month taken from your bank.
    If you try to take them on over this particular issue I cannot see you have any chance of winning.
    I assume that they had no reason to know that you no longer had the phone?

    You are right, i did see it but thought it was linked to my laptop in some way. Kind of didnt know what it was and scared to delete it from my account. Mr Lewis would shout at me for that one!

    I will just have to take this on the chin then. But the insurance i paid for the laptop was worthless too as they didnt really fix it.

    If they didn't fix it then you should have gone back to them and asked/demanded that it be fixed.
