I would also be interested in the outcome of the phone call, they have called my OH during the day and he has not been in, but wont leave a return number. He wrote back in August they sent a reply saying they would contact by the 28th August followed by another reply saying they would contact by the 24th September. Would be intersting to see what happens

MBNA called me after I wrote to them and they had replied with the standard we will contact you in 28 days. I too had my card for 7 years and had just cleared the balance.

They are calling to clarify what was in the letter. Make sure that you tell them exactly what was in the letter, don't deviate, don't add things and have it front of you when they call. Only answer the questions they ask you.

Be polite, firm and factual and don't be funny with them. I got a full refund as a result of my phone call!

    Hi there ;)

Personally yes I would suggest that you request for everything in writing, just in case you have to refer to your case at a later date.
    Good luck.;)

Totally agree with Di - in writing you have a record of everything, plus you would expect them to put some thought into writing a letter and know what they are talking about.

On the phone, you could be dealing with someone who doesn't understand / know what they are talking about in sufficient depth and could lead you on a wild goosechase.

    Good luck with everything.

Additionally, I must mention, during the phone call, I insisted that I receive in writing a summary of what was said in the phone call, and clarification that the call was indeed recorded, as they did make it very clear at the beginning that they were.
