Any deals changing from PAYG to contract?

Hi

Im about to buy a new phone - probably an HTC hero, on any network

I hear of people getting good deals when upgrading their phones but am not sure if Orange will make an effort for me

I spend approx £10 a month on PAYG and have been with them for 10 years at least

I would be happy to pay 20-25 pounds a month including data
Of course I will phone up Orange later but before I did was wondering if 10 years loyalty was worth anything to them - and me :)

If I try it on with Orange to change this for a monthly contract with a new Hero or N97 are they likely to offer me any kind of incentive?
Especially if I mention I may be off to O2 for an iphone....

My mate spends lots more than me - 40 quid or so - and was just given an N97 without even asking which is where my interest suddenly came from

Cheers

    Actually, that is incorrect.

I only had an Orange PayG sim for less than a year, only topped it up once with £5, called up customer services and was offered a Nokia 5800, 400Mins, unlimited texts, orange numbers and 2 months offpeak mobile internet for £14.67/m over 24 months. I got this deal just over a month ago, and I am sure they are still 'gettable'.

Other Orange PayG customers have reported discounted deals through converting their PayG to monthly.

Other examples are 200 mins, unlimited texts, 80MB mobile internet for £14.67/m over 18 months with either a Nokia 5800 or 6700.

Granted, they aren't the HTC Hero, but I am sure you can get some sort of deal if you ask and push!

Vodafone are also doing soMe brilliant new connection offers if you are happy taking the HTC Magic (smashing little phone, not far off from a Hero) or a Nokia E71.

Examples with a Nokia E71 on an 18 month contract are:

£20/m - 600 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited mobile internet
£22.50/m - Above, but with 900 minutes and unlimited landline calls.
    £25/m - Above, but 1200 minutes

If you want the Magic, add £5/m onto the above deals.
Try to imagine nothing ever existed...
  • O2's simplicity sim is good, I just put my son on it, it's a monthly contract with no tie ins and 800 mins and 1200 texts for 20.57 inc vat each month.
