Thinking about o2 but don't want to be tied to phone contract

Options
About to move to a new place in the Country. My partner has an o2 contract phone and we're thinking of the superduper cheapy 16mbps broadband they have. However, we're not v happy with the contract she has. £25 a month for 600 free minutes (has unlimited o2 to o2 minutes as a sop) where as I have Three on £27 for 1100 free minutes. We spend a lot of time talking to each other using up our free minutes and it would make sense if we were on the same network.

If we go for o2 broadband with its discounts, will she be tied into o2 mobile for another year? We've been with Virgin the past and got big discounts because of the lousy call centre we had to deal with and the delay of two months before we got connected. We'd really like to be connected for when we move in which is on Saturday.

Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks,

LT

You can continue with the discounted O2 broadband rate if you change to PAYG and top up £10 every 3 months, otherwise you'll lose your £5 a month discount but will still have O2 broadband

  • if you sign up to the broadband (can get £100 cashback on that deal but will take maybe a week longer) and then she leaves her contract in a few moths will they really check?

if you sign up to the 02 sim only £20 contract 800mins and 1600 texts plus a free bolt on which you could pick unlimited mins then you also can get £100 cashback. if they wont let your partner get the cashback you could put it in your name(depending on your relationship ect)

also if that doesnt suit there is a £25 a month one but im not sure of the limits. though this is a year contract.

    hope that helps

    Thanks for your comments...

Was about to sign up for o2 broadband but it asks for a BT landline number which I don't have...

Do you have to have a BT landline to get this? If so, is it better to sign up for Virgin instead? How about getting a mobile broadband stick from o2 or Three (who I'm currently with...)?

    Thanks,

Has to be BT/Post Office etc. landline

Virgin would give you cable phone/internet

Mobile broadband is not as good as fixed line broadband and has lower limits but then no need for landline
