Price for delivery with proof of delivery - ie parcel force signed for etc, then don't give the buyer the option of going for anything else.

  • I have considered using recorded on all items in the past, it just causes annoyance when i have to post 10 things in one go or something.

If you ask the post office they will give you a set of the signed for forms (at least mine have anyway). This means that you can pre-fill the information, and stick on any relevant labels. So when you go to the post office its just the formalities you need to go through, rather than all the writing out of addresses etc...

  • That sounds good i will ask them.

I have also been considering buying some scales so i can find out exactly how much each item will cost to post.

    Any recommendations?

Last week I sent approx 100 parcels, that would have cost me £68 recorded delivery so no way. I find it easier to just use a COP, keep my post and packing charges very competitive and when the occasional loss happens I just refund and reclaim later from the RM. I trust my buyers rather more than I trust the Royal mail, so why pay another 68p per item just to lose that extra as RM don't compensate for the postage element of the claim.

I should also mention that most of my items are very light so postage costs are minimal, so parcel force wouldn't apply anyway as I use regular inland mail (or airmail obviously when overseas).
