how about instead of "tomorrow i will not buy a coffee" you say
"today i will find/borrow/bargain buy a flask and put it next to the kettle ready for the morning"
i've got an insulated mug which i take with me - i make a cup of tea for me and a cup of tea for the sealed mug and just take it with me
That's an excellent idea! Don't have the insulated mug at the moment but could start that next week. Thanks!!0 -

Mercuryrising wrote:2) Shop coffees - I have this habit of going to a Starbucks or a Costas and spending about £2.50 a day for a latte. Every night I say 'Tomorrow I will not buy one' but on the way to work I always succumb - probably because I'm so tired first thing in the morning.
What's your weaknesses?
Clothes - most absolutely, I have a disproportionate amount of my monthly budget dedicated to clothing. It could be cut back but not having "anything" to wear really gets me down. It's mainly to appear smart at work, cos it's not like I go out lots or anything.
For those shop coffee addicts, especially the daily "on the way to work", if it is feasible, how about buying an espresso rather than a latte, taking it into work and adding a little hot water and your own milk. I've just done this with the coffee stand downstairs, it worked a treat. That's a saving of 40p for me, and that's from a subsidised canteen.Debt Oct 2005: £32,692.94

DVDs, cds and books were probably my worst example of frittering money away. I wouldn't say I've completely cut out buying them, but I certainly think twice now. And I make sure I'm buying them for the lowest possible price...0

Fags for me too, trouble is i dont even want to give up because i enjoy a smoke and im still in good health after 35 years of it!
The only thing that might stop me is the fact that it costs me £140 per month-god its like a loan payment.0 -
Did your doctor say that or the magic 8-ball? Just curious
:rotfl:
you may well be in "good health" Tr@cker... but what about those around you? I only say this as my step-mum has smoked for 45 years and we've probably suffered more than her! I don't mean to preach - everyone has the right to choose, etc etc, but do think smoking is a pretty selfish pursuit!:money: 2007 is the year to clear :money:
Debt as it stands :eek::

My weaknesses, food and drink in cafes, just can't seem to stop it.
Used to buy 'bargains', now just think of the clutter in my house that I am trying to get rid of and it soon stops me in my tracks.0 -
Indian takeaways!! Used to have 1 or 2 a week but now cut it down to 1 or 2 a month. Just love indian food though.
I also love going to a coffee shop - Starbucks, Costa - I love all of them. Trouble is if I go on a Saturday with OH we always end up getting cake as well and it comes to about £7. Am trying to cut this down to every fortnight. Don't want to give it up totally.
I guess my other big weakness is books and cd's. I just love reading and listening to music. I am pretty good though - I buy lots of books in charity shops, boot sales etc and most of my cd's come from Amazon (usually the second hand bit)The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0
