sent iPhone back to apple.. poss. replacement?
this is the first time i've experienced Apple customer support. i bought a 3GS in august and had heat, battery & software problems ever since.
called Apple customer care and they arranged for the phone to be returned via UPS.
according to UPS tracker, it was delivered at 10am this morning. hours later, i checked the repair status on the apple site and it says 'issue identified' then step 3 underneath says 'product replacement pending'.
i have heard they replace a lot of the phones that get returned, so maybe this is the case?
has anyone else had experience of apple repair service?

I am onto my 3rd 16gb 3GS.
The 1st one was replaced within 28 days of purchase from the O2 store i purchased it from.
Told them it was broken and they just swapped it for another brand new boxed one.
And then it had problems with the wifi not connecting or dropping out for no reason. As out of 28 day return period , I went to the apple store nearby and they swapped it for a "brown box" one. It is either a new or refurbished one, that the apple store have loads to deal with the warranty claims. The guy at the shop said it is more than likely a new one as the phone hadnt been out for very long and Apple probably wouldnt had had the time to turn masses around yet. But to ge honest the phone works fine and had no problem with it since.
I think they just replace them as it is quicker, and to try and keep there customers happy.0
