Fill up the return envelopes with all your paper waste so they pay even more postage."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

On the subject of re-using envelopes, I do this but I put a stamp on them when I use for personal use. I assume this is okay.
I do this from a recycling point of view and it saves me paying for envelopes.0 -

Of course this is OK - as long as the new address is clear it won't go to the licence holder but to the addressee you have written.
It's a good ideak, thanks for mentioning it. It helps the environment (better to use/recycle in this way than put out for recycling processing) - and you save the cost of the envelope!0 -

Yes, I have been doing this for years - saves a fortune!0 -
Hey, great idea with the recycling...helps you to perceive junk mail in a new way.....'Free stationary posted to your door from your bank, building society etc etc'
I am just trying to think of other ways it could be turned to our advantage!!

Not an original idea from me, but I wish I could invent an efficient eco-friendly boiler to run on junk mail. It would be worth unsubscribing from MPS for that.
I hadn't thought about re-using and re-addressing the envelopes, great idea. Other than that I do the mail switch method plus adding any other (non- harmful) rubbish that I can get in the envelope. If/when we get charged by weight for rubbish collection I can see this escalating.

does that make sense!!! i.e. my insurance company have sent me a prepaid envelope to send my insurance certificate back to them, but i've already sent it. so, can i put a label over the address and use the prepaid envelope for something else? or would that be an offence???

It is an offence to do this.
The postage isn't pre-paid as such. Royal Mail keep a tally of how many envelopes are returned to the business address and the company is billed for the cost of the postage.
If you put a label over the address and send it without adding your own stamps, the letter will probably be surcharged. This means the recepient will get a card and will have to collect the letter from the sorting office and pay the posting plus a £1 handling fee. Here I go again on my own....0 -
No you cant reuse it unless you put a sticky label over the address and put stamps on.0
