if i was to stick a new address over the pre printed one on envolopes sent out with a free return stamp, would royal mail accept it and deliver it, and if so, would this be stealing/fraud since the purpose of the free stamped envolope would be for return of business and not for personal use?
If it is a company franked stamp as opposed to a sticky Royal Mail one, you will be attempting to "steal" the cost of the postage from that original company. If the letter arrives at your nominated destination, then you will have committed a full offence.

Some people just use them to distribute junk mail to other junk mail senders, putting the used envelopes inside the unused ones so that they aren't lumbered with the rubbish.

A mate of mine always just seals these reply paid "junk mail" envelopes and posts them empty so it costs the company for receiving nothing!

Have a look at http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/ which is the site for the Mail Preference Service. It takes a while for the junk to slow up, but it does help a lot.

For phone calls, you could try http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/ although some believe this is just a "scam" to get your phone number for marketing companies to use. I signed up a couple of years ago and do not get calls from companies that I have not dealt with previously. Having an ex directory number may help too......

    hey magoogy

Dont forget to save up all of the weeks junk mail and post it back to one unlucky company, the heavier the better, i dont know if they have to pay excess postage rates but i like to think they do

Some years ago, a mate of mine used to write the word FREEPOST between the adressees name and thier address. It worked then but I'm sure high-tec has prevented this fraud now.

I like the idea of this sending back junk mail lark... the heavier the better...serves them right

I do this and it may be coincidence but I do seem to get less. Certainly I haven't had any Capital One application forms for a while.

Alternatively it is put to good use inside the guinea pigs hutch.

Hey how about putting something heavy in the envelope - a brick perhaps
