Sky Problem - help needed!

We received our new Sky viewing card a few weeks back and since then we've had problems with our picture pixelating and freezing intermittently. However this only happens on Sky anytime or Sky Plus. If we watch a programme live, everything works just fine. I spent a very frustrating hour on the phone to an Indian call centre last night and they maintain that the problem is with the signal and I have to pay £65 to call out a Sky engineer to fix it!
Now I have several problems with this. I am no techie and so my logic takes over on such occasions and therefore I cannot understand:
If it's the signal, why does it not effect watching programmes in real time?
If it's the signal why do I have to pay a call out fee? Surely I pay Sky monthly to broadcast a good signal to my dish by virtue of paying my subscription? How can a poor signal be my fault?
If this problem started when I put the new viewing card in could it not be related to that? It had worked perfectly well for 3 years prior to putting it in!
They also mentioned it may be the cabling, but again, nothing has changed and it has worked perfectly well until now! Surely this can't be co-incidence......... can it?
Please can someone offer any advice as I cannot stand dealing with Sky cusomer services................. hell I'd rather deal with Ryan Air!

There are two cables running from your dish to your Sky+ box.
Cable 1 is usually used for "Live TV watching" and Cable 2 is usually used for Recording programmes.
I would guess that there is a problem with the your second cable.
The problem could be the "LNB" (the signal collector on the dish), the cable, or even that the cable is not screwed into your box properly.
Try this site for more information: (btw I have nothing to do with this site!)

I just called Sky to cancel cos my Sky+ is playing up and I was not prepared to pay the £65.
Surprise surprise they are going to come out and do it for free.0 -

I work for a Sky call centre myself, there have been a few problems with the Sky Anytime.
If you go into the 'Services' menu, then 'System Setup' after this press 0,0,1,Select this will take you into the Installer Menu
You can go into LNB setup, turn off the 'power supply' and '22KHz Command' and then 'Save New Settings'. Wait ten seconds, go back into LNB set-up, press red and this will turn those back 'On' then go to 'Save New Settings' again
Now follow the above procedurtes again upto 'Installer Setup' then go to number 7, 'Sky+ Planner Rebuild' youl get an error message, press Select, it will now say 'Housekeeping' your box will switch off, wait 1 and a half mins and switch it back on, check you Anytime again, if all these fail just turn the Anytime feature off and back on, this will delete all content but it will download into the box again in a few days, that should sort the problem, iff all above fail then a service call will be needed and it will cost £65 but that covers you for another 3months on top of that, id advise if you do get through to an Indian call centre again jst ask to be transferred to the UK call centre(s)
Let me know how you get on
