Is this a screen or PC problem do you think?

My screen (or PC) is playing up.

It goes black when standing on idle. I used to press the space bar & it would come back to life.
But now I have to switch it off & then back on & press something on screen with my mouse pointer to make it live.
But I only get a couple of seconds to do this before it goes off again, so I usually have to do it nearly 10 times:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
If I don't select & press something instantly it goes black again.

Has it started recently, is there a chance theres another monitor you could test on your machine to see if its the monitor or the base unit
  • What make is it ? I know they has been a problem with some of the new Acers that when they go in to hibernation you can't get them to come back out, you have to turn the laptop off with the switch/pull the power.
They have given a BIOS update to fix this
  • that depends on the power option you set . may be it will go to hibernate mode or sleep mode. check the power option for more details.

Its a Xerox, its older than the base unit. I bought it with the old PC & its so nice I kept it when I got my new PC.

    Its a desk top.

I've looked but can't find it, how do I find this setting?
    What should it be?

    Thank you:beer:

Only happens when you leave it idle.

You could spend hours & it won't happen, leave it for a few mins & it happens.

usually it is the computer. We have one of many screens of the same type at work and this one screen always turns itself off. There are no controls in the menu that will effect this either - so in my case it is a screen fault.

either ask a friend to bring their screen around (bribe them with dinner and wine) or take your pc to their home

go to control panel and power option.
