    I've never seen a plant like this before. Have you? Could it be an ivy species?

    Looks like a Celandine to me, and it's just finished flowering. :)

    Thanks for the above replies. I've just been looking at pictures of your suggestions. At the moment, it seems one of the answers is right. I'll read more about how to distinguish between the two but if it flowers again it will make it easier.
