BT unlimited calls

I have my calls via my ISP, Supanet and it costs me £5.99 for anytime...I see that BT are offering the same service but with 1571 etc for a pound less;)...an added bonus for me would be the 200 free texts.
Anyone got a better deal :D?
The only downside I can see is the 12 month contract.--Did I miss something?
Anyway, how do you text from a landline:confused::confused:?

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • Another benefit if you go to BT they include 0845/0870 calls subject to fair use . Supanet dont.

    Supanet dont.[/QUOTE]
That's another thing in BT's favour :D.....and supanet have put up my internet deal by £8.00 a month, so it looks like it will be plusnet for the internet and bt for the line and calls.;) They are both 12mth contracts but I can live with that for the saving.

Possibly save a little bit more by getting £12 a year off your line rental with this offer.

Also if you go through to BT customer options team. 0800800030 opt1 remember to ask for the £2.00 line rental discount (£24.00 credit on bill)
This makes the plan £1.95 a month

Following the good advice from this site :D I got back to BT and this was the result...first they phoned and told me I don't qualify for this special offer then they sent this email and I am confused:confused::confused:

As discussed in the afternoon on the number ********, I can confirm that you are already on the deal for friends and family mobile offer where in you will not get a discount of £1 but you are saving the £1 on the account for going for a 12 month contract.

Please let me know if I can help you with anything else.

    Thank you for contacting BT.

    Yours sincerely,

I have looked carefully at this offer and cannot see why I don't qualify.;)

I have emailed BTagain and even sent the link to their own price list to see if it clarifies anything--I don't know what else to do. Have I got this all wrong?
    Any ideas moneysavers???

    Hi Catford

I must advise that as per the terms of special offers, they cannot be offered in conjunction with another special offer. You can only be on one special offer at a time.

  • I'm a bit poo-ed off with BT as the moment.
They called me about this special offer of £4.95 per month which I admit is fantastic (remember the days of £200 phone bills?).
I explained that I had been with Sky for some time now on a TV, broadband and phone package and didn't really want to disrupt that. Nice lady explained that by switching my calls, nothing would be disprupted. Everything would remain the same...blah blah blah etc etc....................
So I signed up and guess what? My bill comes through for Sky higher than normal.
    Why? I ask them
Because I cancelled Sky talk, thats why! I am now not entitled to free broadband.
Surely BT staff making these sales calls know this info? And surely they dont have the right to say things like "it wont affect your package or billing with Sky".
The cooling off period had ended by the time I found this out so hopping mad now as I am really out of pocket for the next 12 months.
  • Watch out BT customers on the "unlimited, anytime plan" – it's not unlimited and it isn't any time....

In minute print on the back of their August letter to customers trumpeting lower 0845 call charges, BT announced a new "fair use" condition: from 1 October, "free" calls will be limited to a maximum of 150 per month and/or 1,000 minutes. Anything over that will be charged at BT's swingeing standard prices, which themselves are increasing by over 16% on 1 October.

This looks like a typical BT ploy – distract everyone with news of a small price cut while hiding a massive price increase in type so small you need a magnifying glass to read it. It's the sort of "bait and switch" scam (luring customers with a good deal, then downgrading it) that the banks pioneered and which BT has used so many times before.

Time to complain to Ofcom about BT's use of small print and their cynical mailing at peak holiday season when many people won't have noticed the letter?
