Thanks, doc. The checkboxes for incoming and outgoing emails were already checked so I guess it must be doing it. I unchecked the "certify" flags, so I shouldn't see any certification messages now anyway.

I know what you mean. My PC was a lot slower in the days when I had Norton Anti-Virus. But I'd always leave AV of some kind on, just in case he gets a floppy or CD given to him with some infected file on it. Though if he doesn't connect to the web, he'd never get the virus updates.

I just have the firewall and the AV. I've never bothered with anti-spyware because I can use the firewall to prevent applications from accessing the web unless I need them to (like my browser).
