If a rep does annoy you and hes from n power or another energy company then ask him for his id and make a complaint to n power or whoever and give his name, simple0

DCFC79: The only problem with reporting them is that they could have left the company by the time someone high enough up the energy firm gets off their fat, overpaid, butt and actually does something about the complaint.
I'm sure I had someone from EON the other week saying they'd had complaints of high bills - had a little portable computer, like the ones courier drivers use for signatures.
One day I'm going to tell these door-to-door types that I'm building a polyphasic tritium fusion reactor under my back garden, and all I need to fuel it are unwanted doorstep callers... *evil grin*0 -
I have had a Southern Electric rep con my 72 yr old mother into switching by pretending to be from her existing supplier "upgrading" her tariff. I spotted it and cancelled before it got switched.
2 moths later another SE rep called and I was hiding upstairs whilst he started to con my mum again. I burst in and literally read him the riot act and launched him out the front door.
His face was a picture!!!0 -
i got stung by a british gas salesman in the highstreet once. first i knew i had been switched over was when they wrote to me. in the pourng rain i had spoken to the sales rep but hadnt signed anything other than a slip of paper saying i had taken his survey. it was used to confirm me weanting to switch.
this was years ago and i was conned and my signature used for something it wasnt intended. wish i had belonged to this website back then. believe i probably got the gob!!!!! sacked for his misleadence. There's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -
So, E.ON Company Representative: Malc, after reading all the cases on here of people being conned by energy company reps, how can you say that yours is an honourable job to be involved in. Even in spite of all your PR speak I am still unconvinced that sending people to knock on doors is ethical.
Why do you think there are so many "no cold-caller zones" being set up? I know why. The majority of people in this country do not want people knocking on their doors trying to sell them something, whether it's double glazing, energy switching or religion.
As I said earlier, any company or organization that has to go round knocking on doors to drum-up trade can't be any good. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
It seems I am not alone in wanting energy firms to be prevented from using door-to-door reps. The Trading Standards Institute, no less, is also calling for a complete ban of doorstep selling by energy firms. To quote two paragraphs from the press release:-
More than 1,200 calls have been made to Consumer Direct since January 2009 by people reporting that they have been misinformed about the product, price, terms of contract or their right of cancellation by an energy sales agent.

'It is clear that despite a wide range of tools and sanctions available, misselling remains a problem . Attempts to encourage utility companies to self regulate through the adoption of a doorstep protocol have failed. Worryingly salesmen from utility companies even appear to ignore signs in areas that have joined the No Cold Calling Zones initiative, knocking on doors which have sticker saying 'No cold calling' or' We do not buy from doorstep sellers' or 'Do not call without an appointment'
I have highlighted in red a particular relevant phrase.What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
Had a gentleman from E.ON knock on my door this morning, he asked what company Im supplied by and I explained that i was happy with my existing supplier. He wasn't at all pushy and went on his way.I must have looked a sight, i was in the middle of trimming my 2 yorkies, covered in dog hair!
To be honest I dont let them get to me, my daughter did a similar job last year door to door getting support for RSPB. It was the making of her. She left school with very low confidence, very withdrawn. A few months doing cold calling she ran her own team and became a very confident young woman, cant shut her up now!She left the job due to erratic salary payment (poor area manager) and is now at college. Now she races me to the door if its a cold caller so she can do tea and sympathy! lol

The reason they wanted the bill was it had all the information they needed to switch you :-
Bill Payers Name
Current Supplier
Account Number
Hope this helps.... never show them anything !!
I always tell them I like to pay more as the electricity from **** power company is better quality !! Or i tell them I have money to burn so I like to be on the highest Tarriff ! Or that the gas smells better with my existing company.... lol:rotfl:0 -
My study faces the entrance of our cu-lde-sac and with my beady eagle eye I can spot utility slammers a mile off. When they knock at No.1 I instantly log onto uswitch.com and have the window ready:
"That's funny I was just checking on uswitch, xxx is cheaper than your company. Here look at the screen on my laptop."The man without a signature.0 -

Give the poor guy a chance! Bloody hell, some people!0
