Cancelled flight refund

I think this thread deals with the same matter from the same poster-and includes a prior discussion on refund/re-route aspects as well as the breakdown of the tax/passenger charge values you request. See http://flightmole.com/forum/showthread.php?t=674

As you say it might depend upon when the charge falls due to be paid. Does Germany (or a particular German airport) levy a designated charge for an arriving passenger which is recharged as a separate item within a passenger ticket value ?

Dont know about BMI but arent these values usually separated for each flight-outward and return- by an airline on the ticketing/purchase voucher?

Having read the thread, it's not completely clear as to what is being refund, but at first glance it seems OK. Hard to double check as no CGN-EMA flights anymore to check taxes against, or even any BMI flights from Cologne.

I have looked at the differences on the bmi site using the LHR-CGN as an example and looking at 2 one-ways and the taxes applicable

The PSC £1.10 and Airport Security Charge £3.80 should be refunded. There is also an arrival PSC charge for Germany which shows as £6.80 that would not be refunded
  • Thanks very much for all your help.....will check my bank statement over the next couple of days to see if a refund has gone through....& if necessary contact them about any missing refund (tho I don't hold out much hope of success....but they must be making quite a bit if they're witholding lots of these small amounts). Why isn't a consumer programme highlighting this routine abuse, if it is taking place ? Surely "extraordinary circumstances" can't apply to refunds like this ? I was very lucky in that my mother's dates were flexible & I was able to find a flight back for roughly the same amount....the one date around then....anything else would have cost around double.
