Why do companies use recruitment agencies?

I'd ban footballers from earning megabucks for kicking a ball around, but it's a business and that's how that business works.
£12 against £5.73 is wildly inaccurate, but even if it wasn't, it's simply supply and demand. Who are you to say what private companies should and shouldn't spend their money on? Perhaps i'd agree private sector should do their own recruitment as they employ more than enough civil servants to do their own recruitment, but i don't think you would see the NHS stand without Bank Nurses etc."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." private companies can spend their money on what they want but don't expect to be competitive when you're paying an agency £12 an hour for someone to do a minunum wage job, and your competitors are only spending £6 an hour
(and a lot less in some countries).

More like £8.91 at best.
& tell me, what is the exact financial cost to a company of paying their own staff minimum wage? (we will forget about BACS fees, borrowing costs, payroll admin & stationary for the meantime)Not Again0 -
Yes, and agencies with their recruitment consultants always sort out the excellent candidates don't they ??
If I was an employer I would much rather give the person Who was hired an extra £2000 a year in their pockets rather then the agencies pocket
They work for me, and I will happily continue to use agencies.0 -

Your figures are inaccurate. Tell me you have paid this to an agency personally, and I will offer to play cards with you for money.

£5.73ph plus employers NI and holiday pay, ignoring actual running costs associated with having an employee at a desk, around £7.00ph I believe?"On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." Four of my last five jobs have come through agencies. All specialists in there area. Would I use an agency to recruit for me? That would depend on the job. The only time I employed temp staff it cost my 7.50 per hour and they were paid min wage.

And that is your opinion. Not everyone shares it obviously, or there would be an awful lot of unemployed RC's about.
What it boils down to, is that you don't agree with a business making a profit out of finding people work. Naturally it should be a charitable activity , not a business.
Another very good reason that firms use Agencies is that they can have them Headhunt the person they want for their job without getting involved in the politics.
I am against agencies full stop and don't know why companies use them, particularly for recruiting full time staff. I am in favour of a free national online database where employers can advertise vacancies free of charge giving all candidates an equal opportunity to apply for them.0 -

i've never had anything to do with agencies nor would i ever, they should be banned
why do you want to play cards?

that would be a lot better solution, a free national online database and cut out the middlemen agency scum who sit on their asses all day making money out of people doing real workMartin has asked me to tell you I'm about to cut the cheese, pull my finger.0
