Better I think. If I'm understanding this right: If I just create a disc copy it is erased from my system but if I create and iso file it remains on the computer and I can make more than one copy at a later time. ( and still restore from the computer?)£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

The recovery disc you create is what you use to restore the system to its original state; you can't use the image as-is, because it's being kept in the same place as the operating system you would be trying to restore. Even if it could be run from there, it would attempt to delete itself along with everything else before extracting its contents.
That's how recovery works: destroy the old, replace with the even older.

On my laptop I use AVG and Zone Alarm.
I have heard a lot of good things about avira. I was thinking of using this on my netbook.
What does it cover? ie firewall and/or anti-virus
Is it easy to use?
How is it compared to my normal security?£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

Just stick with what you are used to. Avira free does not scan POP3 e-mails. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

The netbook offeres me the option to create this file and/or a restore disc.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

If the recovery utility is offering to create the file you will need:
- An optical disc drive drive capable of disc authoring
- A blank disc
- A disc authoring utility capable of writing ISO files to disc
