Prices for Sol Mirlos Tordos???

Hi all,
I am a new member and have read up on all of the advice on here and identified the Sol Mirlos Tordos as an ideal hotel to go to for 2 adults and 2 children (1 & 3 years old). Loads of positive recommendations!
I've read all Martins tips on getting the best prices / used his links but can't seem to find many prices or package deals to this hotel from either Liverpool (main preference) or Manchester.
I'd really like to hear from someone as to why there doesn't seem to be many sites displaying costs yet. I have seen 1 site saying £1400 per person but I don't think this included the flight either!
Unfortunately we can only go peak season as my wife works in a school  so we were looking at dates around 7/08/10 (14 nights) but I've even typed in dates much sooner to get a realisitc indication. We are flexible within a week or 2.
Can someone please advise how much this hotel will likely be?
Has anyone been previous who can help / is it worth the trouble?
Will it be available on a package or will I have to book flight/hotel separately?
If its on a package - estimated price pp?
Am I likely to get this on a package from L'pool?
Any good sites to check for cheap package holidays - loads of questions I know (sorry) but not been abroad for about 5 years and I'm out of touch!
Thanks in advance

Sol Mirlos/Tordos, now thats an excellent choice
first can I advise you to check out tripadvisor
http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowForum-g580306-Palma_Nova_Majorca_Balearic_Islands.html
you'll find anything and everything on there
we have been the mirlos/tordos for the last three years (done it D.I.Y) as well
from Liverpool & Manchester
check out sol melia own web site for prices
I would advise you to sort out your flights first, I went via ryan air (jul 09)
from Liverpool, I know Jet2 are offering there flights for next summer now
hang fire on booking the hotel, last year Sol mirlos sent out an email with a promotion of if you book by end of Dec you got 20% off then end of Jan 15% off etc, so hang fire for this, lets hope they do the same again
last year (summer gone) due to a bit of a mix up (on my part) I booked with travel republic
check out the reviews on trip advisor, it really is a cracken family hotel, peole advuise/prefer the Mirlos to
anything else, I check back in tonight (after work)0 -
thanks bignred05,
I did read some of your previous posts which along with others helped sway me towards there.
Can I ask how much you paid in total pp and individually pp (flights & hotels) last year?
I'd be up for booking the flights first and then trying to get the hotel later, but I don't think my wife would take the chance, especially with the kids and she'd like to see it all booked together.
If we had to book it all together, what would be the best way/time to do this?
How did you get the email promotion? Do I just sign up to the Sol Miros website?
Cheers again0 -
questions, questions, questions
from memory we paid about £320 for flights, roughly £100-120 for the flights and the rest was Ryanair taxes and charges etc
the beauty of doing it DIY, to me is I choose what time I fly not what time the charter planes fly, that means no early morning departure and certainly no late night/early hours of the following morning flight, no hanging round the hotel all day awaiting your coach pick up in the small hours of the following day
have booked DIY for a number of years now
there plenty of time yet to book flights, I booked ours around Mid Jan this year (2009)
over the last three years we have travelled via Monarch (scheduled) Thomson (charter) and Ryan Air this year, have always booked the flights first the hotel second
due to a bit of a mess (my fault) we missed the deadline for the sol promotion (20% off) so we booked around the same time early Feb. this year 2009 with travel republic and from memory paid roughly £1,400
for 2 adults & 1 child (aged 11/12) :eek::eek::eek::eek:
this was for the last 2 weeks in July
sorted out our transfers, worked out @ 64 euros (cheaper than a taxi) and was at the hotel within 25 minutes of picking our cases off the luggage belt
Was speaking to someone at the hotel who had paid £3,000 :eek::eek:
for the same time for 3 adults (the faces dropped when I told then how much we had paid)
yes to get the email promotions just sign up to Sol melia web site
one of the benefits of bookings direct with Sol melia is you don't actually pay till your arrive next summer, feels rather strange you have actually had your holiday then 2-6 weeks later your credit card bill arrives to pay for it
sign up for a sol melia card to collect points towards a free nights as well
you can get a price right now on sol melia web site for next summer (2876 euros for 2 ad+1 chd) that’s for 14 nights
don't forget to get your self a fee free visa card to avoid charges
if you book this with a travel agent I guarantee you will pay a lot, lot more
I would seriously look at doing it your self the savings are quite significant0 -
Thanks again, sorry for the questions!! (but I've got a couple more!):rotfl:
Did you go all inclusive?
We're looking to go all inclusive but we also want to keep the costs down as much as possible.
Its showing e3739 for the 1st 2 weeks in Aug
e3383 for last week in July / aug
(even with the 2 children 1&3 it shows up as 4 adults):eek:
Is it likely these prices will remain static and for them to get any lower we'd have to wait for the discount of 20% or 10% in Dec/Jan?
As we've only got 2 babies, do you know if it's possible for the 2 adults to go all inc & the babies b&b or won't they allow you to split it like that?
Given the costs we may even have to look at going 1st week in June for 1 week as the costs are reduced considerably to e1144
Thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions, I really do appreciate it :T0 -
Did you go all inclusive?
Yes, its the best thing to do, we went half board the first time, then upgarded to A/I and have been A/I for the last 2 years
We're looking to go all inclusive but we also want to keep the costs down as much as possible.
Then book it DIY, don't go via a travel agent (there's still plenty of time to book, don't panic)

Sol melia's web site is a very funny one, sometimes you can book kids on (I did last night when checking) sometimes you can't, might depned on what link or what way you look for it
there also a freephone number you can call for a booking quert/price
Is it likely these prices will remain static and for them to get any lower we'd have to wait for the discount of 20% or 10% in Dec/Jan?
Forgot to mention when I booked earlier this year, Travelrepublic also had a deal on 15/20% off prices should of been roughly £1600, ended up paying about £1370, also remains to be seen whether Sol do the discount deal again
As we've only got 2 babies, do you know if it's possible for the 2 adults to go all inc & the babies b&b or won't they allow you to split it like that?
Not sure, depends on the age of the babies they may be able to go "free" if not the only pay a minamal amount
Given the costs we may even have to look at going 1st week in June for 1 week as the costs are reduced considerably to e1144
that makes a lot of sense
I know I keep saying this but I wouldn't rush into anything yet, wait till either side of xmas

Its coming up as £2248.00 on Thomson Hotels. I generally check thomson first then play around with travel republic, alpha rooms, Hotelopia, Etc.
With flights (especially Ryanair) you should be researching now for prices & sales. We have often flown for less than a tenner but that was from stansted and I've never found a good deal in August.0 -
As a thomson package from Manchester it is coming up as £2906.50. That includes flight meals so you could knock off £32.00. And coach transfer is included.0
-
Thanks again, I'll take your advice and monitor the situation over the next few months.
You'll be glad to know there are no more questions! :j:j0 -
Thanks Crocodileteeth!
Thats a great spot. It gives me a good basis to work from to see if I can get it any cheaper. I'll keep on looking - as bignred said, no hurry.
Many Thanks0 -
This sol hotel is also featured by thomas cook, you can book packages with them or hotel only. If you do hotel only quite often the 1st child is free or very reasonable in price, if your 2nd child is under 2 by the date you return then its classed as an infant which if you have a package will only cost you approx £29, if they will be 2 then you will have to pay for 2 children. You cant pay AI for 2 and BB for the other 2 you all have to be the same, and as there are 4 of you in your party i shouldnt leave it too long to book it as family rooms always go very quickly. Its doubtful you would get a free child on an AI basis but there are some good discounts and offers on at the moment.0
