100% free contracts - do they still exist?
me and my other half are low users (less than 200 mins, less than 30 texts each), and haven't paid a penny for our mobile for the last 4 or 5 years:-
O2 thru CPW
200 mins / 200 texts
£30 per month
12 month contract
£360 cashback in 3 stages
Not bothered about flashy phone
Anyway, I did my usual threatening-to-leave phonecall to CPW, but was told in no uncertain terms that 100% free was a thing of the past, and the best they could do was £5 per month for 400 minutes - should I take this or could I still get it for free for another year?
Advice on strategy please

Jesus.
Would you also like a free laptop and iPhone to go with that?0 -
not at all, just free will do me - i take it you think i should just accept?
getting annoyed with myself just thinking about it.....0 -
100% do not exist any more as CPW have said - with the state of the economy, don't expect that to change for a few years. Mobile companies like t-mobile have been struggling. The only deals you can get require you to spend some amount of money (which is fair enough I think).0

I've often wondered how they could continue to extend this deal, as they don't make any money on me (save for the odd non-standard call and calls abroad)
I've become quite adept at negotiating (starting off with "this time I really want a new phone/more minutes", and in the end giving in to their final offer of extending on same basis but without a new phone or increase in mins/texts).
This time however, it looks like I'll have to start paying money - horror!
Buymobilephones.net are advertising a basic Nokia for free on Tmobile but this phone is currently not in stock (expected today surprise surprise)0 -
Sandy you have not said what deal you are being offerred. Is it by cashback or do you just pay up front a fiver full stop.0

Good question - forgot to ask and also don't know what length the contract -
Was so shocked that I told them I would have a think about their terms. Also, it's not quite time to cancel yet, so will phone them again in 2 weeks time to see if they have changed their mind0 -
For the last 3 years o2 have given me a 12 month contract with 100 mins and up to 600 texts with credits to my account so that I had nothing to pay. I'll be gutted if they don't continue that :mad:0
