hi, i to are hoping to go to a haven site, sorry of topic, but i am going with a one year old and not sure with one to go with near the manchester area: cal gran, hafan y mor, presthaven sands and marton mere, the last two are dearer, thanks for any help
We are off to Cala Gran on Monday - never been but believe its quite small.
Marton Mere is a nice site, again quite small but quite close to Blackpool, I went with small children and it was fine for them, not much there for older kids/teenagers I thought.
Went to Lakeland just up from there last month and we found it to be a very poor site, especially for older kids. You can stand there and agonize........

we been to hafan y mor, as previously said, it is a pretty big site, but being ex butlins you would expect that, we loved it, especially the view of snowdonia, only problem we had was it constantly rained, but we are hoping to go back in a year or two and hopefully have better weatherTake every day as it comes!!0 -

We've been to Haven a few times and we always pack tea towels, loo rolls, matches, and some decent sized mugs because the cups in the caravans are tiny!
Hope you have a nice holiday, we've always enjoyed staying at Haven
Carol9uk, we usually go to Presthaven Sands because there is lots to do in the local area. We have day trips out to Llandudno, Conwy etc it makes a really good base.:xmastree:What a splendid idea, this Christmas sounds fun. I fully endorse it, let's try it at once!:xmastree:0 -
hi, only thing that nobody has mentioned is that if you are going in a caravan with no heating in bedroom take a small fan heater , was absoultly freezing in the morning in bedroom hope this helps0

Have been to haven a lot, Berwick is latest i have been to, and as it can get very cold we are naughty and leave fire on low all the time. Also open bedroom doors in early evening to get rooms warmer. Although there is always a lot of us and someone has to sleep in lounge.
As also mention we take a small fan heater as Mum (oap) gets very cold in bedroom overnight, although noise from fan heater can drive you mad.
I also take one small sharp knife as never one in van (not sharp anyway)!Proud to be dealing with my debtCCCS member, Debt free wannable nerd 1237Combined debt total=[STRIKE]sept 09 [/STRIKE][STRIKE]£5679.27[/STRIKE] Nov 09 £4599.46DFD [STRIKE]SEP [/STRIKE] OCT 2012:huh:0 -
As owners on a Haven park this is something that we have tired to address in our own caravan that we let, we have included things like scissors, sharp knife's, books for adults and children, a box of childrens toys, puzzles and games, dvd player and dvd's, video player and video's, PS2 and games, bin liners, there is also normally kitchen roll, salt, pepper etc.. batteries for the remote's, spare light bulbs.0

Having stopped in plenty of SC accommodation (but not Haven) I would always say take a tin opener. IME they are either too blunt or a wierd and wonderful type that I can't fathom out.0

Burham is a nice site, we were over looking the lake (not cheap though).
try the `porthole` cafe on the seafront it`s excellent
Cala Gran is small and i felt over crowded with c`vans
(and miles from blackpool centre),
Where as Marton Mere was more spacious and closer to blackpool too
Havan y Mor is a big site with lots to do (ex-butlins)
The bedrooms are freezing off peak, so we always book a c`van with bedroom heaters (silver/prestige standard)
or central heating (gold/platinum standard)
but the more you have the more you pay, and after all your only borrowing it not buying it.
A fan heater is an excellent idea (wish i`d thought of it) cos it`s not even your electric bill :rotfl:0 -
thanks everyone for all the great tips off to Presthaven Sands at the half term with the kids. A great base to see wales, not a great time of year i know.0
