    intermittent sheet lightening over penarth/cardiff.

    impressive yet terrifying :D

hope your fridge isnt dead fran

... and huuge forks too! I've been in the garden watching it :D
    de do-do-do, de dar-dar-dar ;)
  • Is your fridge on its own separate circuit (some houses are rewired that way)

Check your fuse box to see if a MCB/RCD?RCBO or fuse has blown?

I'll try to keep it simple.............
The quicker you fall behind, the longer you have to catch up...
  • If all else fails drag the fridge or use an extension lead to get it connected to a socket that you KNOW works and call a sparky tomorrow.

at least it aint your computer, like what happened to me last summer. the lightning hit the ntl cable, come underground and we heard an almighty crack.
it fried the modem, network, graphics card and mother board. £235 later. good thing i wasnt on mse at the time or i might have been fried as well.

Put fridge in another socket and it came on. Tried it one last time in it's own socket and it was humming..... it's now come on and the kettle light comes on if put in fridge socket too.

Is there something that happens to do with lightening that can make this happen? Should I get that socket checked or is this normal (well normal when lightening srikes!).

Have you checked the fuse in the fridge power plug?.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
  • Your socket is suffering from tired contacts, so if you feel confident change the socket, if not get someone in. It,s a common problem and I would suggest getting a good quality SO like MK or Crabtree. (Unless of course your plug is all manky and corroded LOL)

I cannot tell you how to do that on here (but it is allowed and generally not to difficult)

Good luck with your weather BTW (Its a nice balmy evening here)

Sometimes when a fridge is switched off (intentionally or otherwise) they can be reluctant to restart. My method is to put the power back on, then rock the fridge gently from side to side. This usually works.
