Thats why you should check regularly.

Personally I don't like velcro wraps, I find popper fasteners much better. Velcros' only real advantage is that you can fasten it to any size (but if using a popper wrap with a variety of fastener points it's usually not an issue anyway).

hmm - i find i do quite enuf nappy changes with a newborn without changing her nappy every 15/20 mins in case she has done a wee <shrug>

plus my 2 year old is in a nappy overnight - are you suggesting i should be doing several nappy changes on her too?

popper wraps are ok - but my babes are skinny round the legs and i find it hard to get a good fit with them - plus they will not contain breastfed explosive poo [like the one she has just done lying on my lap]

Not in case she's done a wee, if she HAS done a wee then she should be changed, not left sitting in it.

You should be doing several nappy changes if they need doing. If she goes all night without wetting (as most 2yr olds will) then of course no nappy needs changing.

If OTOH she wets during the night of course she should be changed.

My daughter is very tall and thin and I find the nature babies PUL wraps and the stacinator and minki fleece wraps a good fit, the minki one was a little big around the legs when she was a bit younger but fine now.

They also contain breastfed faeces fine, although as with any brand/fastener style there will always be accidents.

think we will have to agree to disagree on this one - my understanding is that wet nappies need to be changed regularly - they need to be changed asap when they are *dirty*. have always followed this thinking and my three have never had nappy rash....... so i must be doing something right....

btw - the doc/hv/midwife have all agreed with me re changes so i don't think i am that far off with it :D

oh and no way would i be getting up several times a night to change a sleeping toddler - I like to get what sleep i can when i can <shrug>

  • swampy, I'm shocked. You think your sleep is important?
    :rotfl: :rotfl:

We have occassional rash flare ups but tend to find they are around tooth time.
Cloth nappies are going to be changed more regularly than disps because they don't hold as much moisture, even with boosters. But imo there's little point changing a semi wet nappy if you're using a liner that draws moisture away from the skin
Like swampy i value my sleep, and have enough to do without checking my baby's nappy every 15 minutes to see if he's peed.

There are many options out there to help treat and prevent nappy rash. And atleast with cloth nappies you can use creams and not worry about it affecting the nappy. Neal's yard (pricey) do some lovely baby products that are very effective in treating nappy rash, and you don't need much

Check and change with in 15 minutes?! Do you get anything else done in your life at all?

My 2 get changed 3 hourly during the day and go up to 14 hours at night. The only time we've had nappy rash is when my eldest was cutting his molars. So I'm afraid I'm inclined to go with 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.

Just out of interest, how many nappies do you go through a day?

    .

My 2 year old doesn't go all night with out wetting and I don't think that's uncommon. He has a disposable on at night for about 13 hours and it's fine. When he has cloth nappies on (during the day time)I change them 3 hourly, they are fleece lined & don't cause nappy rash.
I wouldn't dream of waking him in the night to change his nappy, we both need our sleep.

Hi...expecting a baby at end of July. Have to bring own nappy to hospital.

Want to use eco-friendly disposable nappy for the first few days.

I have seen two different brands which are Tushies Gel Free, and Moltex.

Which one is better especially leakproof!

    Thanks

    Firstly congratulations!

We have been using "nature babycare" https://www.naty.com on our 8 week old with no leaks yet! There wipes are also very good :)

I used Moltex & found them fine but to be honest it depends on the shape of your baby! I got a load of free samples of Moltex & that's how I ended up with them, naturebotts.co.uk/free samples but you have to pay for P&P now so probably cheaper to buy a couple of packs.

    HTH;)

    Hi,

Thanks for your comments...useful. Will use eco disposable for the first few days, then switch to reusable nappies. There's a lot of of information that make it so difficult to choose which eco disposable and reusable nappies.

Didn't realise there is sample/trial service - it's brilliant and will try them out first before buying!
