Right to Manage (RTM), Any Other Directors here?

I am an owner occupier of a flat, we had Solitaire as a management company who are/were flippen useless. It was decided that we would go down the route of Right to Manage, a new management company has been appointed, I "volunteered" to become a director just so that I could over see what was going on. There are 3 Directors in total and we now have meetings etc. and really going to town on management fees, cleaning, grass cutting and decorating etc.
Has anyone else gone done this route? If so what experiences have you had? I am not a legal person and sometimes feel totally out of my depth, I would really like to hear someone elses views on how they are getting on and what advantages you see if any?

We have just formed an RTM Company limited by guarantee in the same circumstances, to oust Peverel (aka Solitaire), and am one of the 3 directors.
Yes it is daunting because of the legal responsibilities, but we are going the route of appointing an alternative managing agent which will guide us, and taking out directors insurance.
The worst fear I have is that despite getting 50% of the flats to join the company as members, 3 of the remainder have been quite negative and vocal. They are just about to receive the formal legal invitation !
Another concern is the legal fees. We have shared the advance costs, but now the lawyer wants the balance.0 -
Hi, I'm also thinking of setting up a Right to Manage company with the other leaseholders in my block so that we can get rid of JJ Homes and appoint a managing agent of our choice. I've raised the idea with the other leaseholders and they seem keen but now I'm looking to press things forward and I don't know where to start! So any help would be most appreciated.0
