They don't bother me. We have had them for years so I don't even notice them. Green one out the front next to the porch and black on in the back yard. The red boxes are a bit of a nuisance though. I keep it outside the back door or I woudn't put stuff in, but there is really not much space.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

I put a large gate on the side of the house and they are now hid behind it.0

Its not just the looks they are a target for yobs - an elderley neighbour regularly has his pushed down the road - dont they have grand parents & how would they like it to happen to them I wonder - Ive seen a few set alight to, keep them out of sight if you can.Theres only two rules to remember1) Im always right2) See rule 10

We live up 15 steps, so ours are in a specially excavated part of the garden, and dropped down behind the front wall which means they are not as prominent as they would otherwise be, still not hidden, but less obtrusive. I hate them too.0

I live in terraced housing and if your bin gets left out it gets taken away by the council. They HAVE to get taken down youe back alley and into your yard. Kids set fire to them and would be burglars use them as step up to climb over walls.
OP couldnt you make some sort of screen with some fence posts and some trellis and then you can plant a climber like a clematis up the trellis. Would be very pretty! What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
Lakeland do HUGE sticker to make them look prettier, can't decide if I like them or not, can't hide ours, the cats use it as a 'leg up' to get in the window!!~~~~~~~~~~~~Halifax, taking the Xtra since 1853:rolleyes:~~~~~~~~~~~~0

I have a piece of trellis screening mine. ( 3 wheelie bins) Icant see them where they are, in the yard, but it is for the benefit of neighbours & pedestrians. We live on a corner with a side gate and they are visible from the side road.
I have seen those sticker things but when they fade (and they do) they look pretty awful.

I like the idea of in corporating a trough, but mine is flimsyish and I think the increased weight would be a problem in the wind. I might think of a trough on the ground next summer though!Norn Iron Club member 4730 -

Yes. I really don't see these as all that different to the old bins. A bit taller and squareold style bins weren't exactly ornamental

I wish councils would let people do a Pimp My Bin thingy. Everyone's bin would be easily identifiable, there could be an annual competition for the cleverest/funniest/glamorous one and it could get kids interested in recycling. On a mad day I have fantasies of wallpapering mine.................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
