How do you hide your Wheely Bins?

I have 3 wheely bins. I have to have them in an area in the back garden that I look at everyday :( They are really getting on my nerves being so ugly!!!

So,,,, how do you hide yours???

Do you grow something around them? Have you built something around them???

They are in my direct view, i cant take it anymore!!!!

Ive seen some lovely fancy wooden box shaped things with a sort of gate on the font but they are over £100 each and there is no way im paying £300 to hide some bins!!!

Ideas greatfully recieved!!!

    ooh touchy subject!

My neighbour's bins are the main thing you see out of my front window and they day we moved in we asked to have the moved further back out of sight - the answer was no. So I planted some bushes on my side to hide them, andthey're now big enough so you don't see the bin anymore - so we had a complaint from them that the bushes were too big and leaves were falling in their garden (!) and onto the cars(!!) - so my DH told them why the bushes were there- they said "oh why didn't you ask us to move the bins"!!!
Anyway the bushes and the bins are still where they were!

Lakeland do HUGE sticker to make them look prettier, can't decide if I like them or not, can't hide ours, the cats use it as a 'leg up' to get in the window!!

I have pointed the wooden gate thingies out to dh in garden centre and through flattery and combination of fair/foul means (including bribery lol) convinced him he could build something similar when we recieve our bins - only better (?) and much cheaper to incorperate a wooden trough on top for planting herbs/flowers. There was a clip of something similar on gardeners world the other week. Watch this space LOL

Our 4 bins are in a purpose built bin hidey hole outside our front door, we mainly use the back door so I only see them if I need to put something in them. I feel for people who have their bins lined up outside their house because they can look unsightly

  • Hmmmm Im not really very handy when it comes to building things although I am thinking ... How hard could it be Ha ha.
I wonder if anyone has some old bed slats on freecycle or something similar, that I could knock something up from. Got loads of fence paint left after just finishing the fence so surely id just need some wood of some description, some hinges and some nails.

Ooooh I sense a project coming together!

My parents bins are out the front as the only way of putting them in the back garden would be to drag them through the house - not practical!

They have a porch that sticks out on the left hand side of the house. Dad put some paving stones in front of the window on the right hand side of the house and then made a screen with trellis. You can't see them when you go in the front door and it's not obvious they are there when you are walking past the house.
Here I go again on my own....
