wind turbine plans!

            Hi all,
Have a look at http://www.energyenv.co.uk/default.asp, and follow the link to D400 Stealth on front page.
It says:-
Grid connect – the Stealthgen's output is connected to your ring main via a G83 inverter which produces 240 volts AC @ 50Hz synchronized to the grid. When the Stealthgen's power is not required in the house, the surplus flows back out to the local grid. You will need an export electricity meter and tariff agreement with the power supplier if the value of your exported energy is to be credited.
Prices on the pages suggest one D400 can be supplied and fitted for £2,600 and two can be installed for £3,450. Again to quote the pages one D400 should supply 15% - 20% of the average home’s annual electricity requirement. IMHO that seems quite good.

            Hi all,
I have got planning permission to erect a 15M tall wind turbine to provide power to an agricultural barn. (5000W)
For the mast I have purchased a ex-phone mast that I will 'adapt' to fit.
For the turbine I was looking to obtain a good quality turbine from China or Pakistan. I cant seem to find any reliable UK companies that will provide a foreign turbine for DIY erection. So I was planning on importing one individually from China.
Has anyone done this before?
Or can any one reccomend a UK company distributor of foreign turbines.
(Navitron never answer the phone so I cant be bothered with them, and Electrolyne (or whaever they're called these days) - I think they're a case for Watchdog!!)
Also! I need someone to do the calculations for the foundations for the wind turbine. Anyone got any suggestions or recommendations. Remember I am a poor greenminded Herefordshire smallholder!!!0 -
I have contacted them ok on this number : 01572 725512

I take it this is a number for Navitron? What? do you ring after midnight? I tried to call them many, many times and after over probably 20 attempts over as many days on two numbers, I reverted to emailing them. Eventually I got a response to the email, but at the end of the day - I am the customer and I am lookng at spending several thousand pounds on a product. Get this. I email a company in China once and I get an email back within 24hrs with all the information I want [in English]. They have already invited me to the factory etc etc. offered shipping etc etc and specifications etc etc. But Navitron - well I sent a long email outlining my requirements & I got an email back saying 'look at the web site'. I already had and it didnt have the information I wanted. Im a busy person and for me, the first impression is usually the right one. Navitron seem to have the entire UK market to themselves - but unless they step up their communications and treat customers a bit more like customers - well people like me will walk away. And I have.0

I rang them (Navitron) around lunch time on the number I posted which is the one they list for calls from abroad I refuse to use 0870 ones and look for a +44 number to use B4 looking on https://www.saynoto0870.com ..I called them about the solar water heating and they seemed very helpful.

            Thanks for this advice.0

I hope you know what you are doing (I wouldn't!) re the mast. Remember that a wind turbine will put a lot of dynamic load on it, as it is designed to catch the wind rather than let it slip past. The last thing you'd want is for it to collapse in a storm.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

Im lucky in that my other half is in steel fabrications and most of his work involves designing & installing specialist gantries for heavy machinery. The mast is definitely up to the job -and we will need a mobile crane to get it up. However, I need to get the calcs done for the foundations as these things vibrate like hell & need a decent anchor.
It will be positioned so that if it does come down (and I truly hope it doesnt!)- it wont damage anything. I dont think the planners would have given me the go ahead otherwise!0 -
Have a look or contact these people

Hope it all works out; be interested to see what output you get.
If nothing else this thread illustrates how impractical wind turbines are for Mr Average.
