Can a Nokia 5800 be swapped for a basic iphone anywhere?

My DH has had a load of trouble with his Nokia 5800 (from O2), its being replaced on Monday.

They won't exchange it for an Apple iphone, hes never had anything but Nokias but he's so fed up of this one he wants to try an iphone instead.

Is there anywhere you can exchange mobiles?

Looked on that mobile phone x change advertised on TV but they only want to buy, not sell/swap. They said a used Nokia 5800 was worth £100 (he doesn't know till Monday if it will be a reconditioned or new one) & a basic iphone £110, so the value is not too different.

Can you swap/exchange phones anywhere?

What is the problem with Nokia 5800? I was thinking of getting the same model. Many users rated it higher than iPhone!
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

He's had it breakdown a couple of times mainly bluetooth & screen problems turning itself off.

He's fed up with the 5800.

I think MrsE meant that £110 it's worth it if you recycle it?! Am I right MrsE?

Also she was looking at basic Iphone - I am sure I saw them on Ebay for less then £400.

Thank you for asking the question MrsE, I would also like to do that.

I wonder where do the phones go when you recycle them? Surely working Iphone must be possible to re-condition and if they only buy it in for £110 they could sell re-conditioned one for up to £200? They wouldn't just scrap it?

If you check the price on payg for the 2 handsets you'll find that there's a 200 quid difference between them.
The 5800 can be picked up for between 149 and 199, but the iPhone is over 400.
I can't see any company doing a swap without a large cash adjustment.

I am not sure if I am allowed to post this, but try: www.avforums.co.uk

They have a dedicated Forum for mobile phones and you can open your own thread.

I am actually thinking of swapping my HTC Hero for an Iphone... If anyone is interested ;)

    £100 trade in for 5800
    £110 for a (basic) iphone.

Mine you the 5800 could well be new in the box.
